Report a translation problem
The problem is, they're invisible. It's one of those things where the visible graphics don't match the collision map. You have to tap the slope with the hammer to see where they are.
You CAN climb the ice slope by hooking each one and perching on it to get to the next, but this is very difficult (and, I think there's one or two spots where you can't reach the next hold, you have to do a pogo or a fling).
Eventually (this takes a LOT of practice!) you memorize where they are, and you can do a hard fling up the slope, catch a hold higher up, fling again, and use momentum to speedrun the thing.
In the end, it comes down to the same deal as the rest of this evil demon of a game: practice.
