I wonder if it could be due to the engine checking every few milliseconds, which depends on the pc. Someone prove me wrong.
As for the rest of us, we can only guess. The way the game physics works is this: the mouse cursor follows the tip of the hammer. But the mouse cursor is an illusion; the hammer ONLY moves when YOU move. If you don't move the mouse, the hammer remains stationary. The hammer only applies a force when you move the mouse.
So the most likely explanation is, you're panicking and slamming the mouse around spastically as you fall, causing your on-screen avatar to swing frantically in every direction, and God only knows what direction he happens to be swinging when he connects with a rock. But that's just a guess. I got no idea what's happening on your screen.
(as for "depends on the PC"? my computer is seven years old and runs this game just fine)
The in-game narrative will be a LOT nastier towards the player than Mr. "we live in a society". Getting git-gudded by somebody in here is a warm romantic snuggle by comparison.
And what's with the anvil jump? I've already experienced that on a different machine I could perform something that I couldn't on my own, but don't ask me which game that was.
No, it's not. If I had to guess I'd say the narrator, Bennett probably, is annoying to players because he says the truth they already know. They fall down, their brain registers "I fell down" and then they hear someone say it AGAIN: "you fell down". People get angry over this all the time. But I find it ironic and thus rather amusing; I even restarted the game once upon falling down just to hear the narrator all over again. Also the narrator cares about his players, even though not knowing them personally. Which you can hear when listening closely (and that's not when he says "oh you lost a lot of progress there").
"Git gud" is just a careless phrase without respect. It's a synonyme of "I'm better than you", which he most likely drops in every thread. He doesn't take the time to write anything else because he doesn't care about anything else except telling everyone that he thinks he's better.
Now imagine playing this game and every time you fall, the narrator says "come on, git gud!". How long does it take till you shut him off?
Early on, when I wasn't "git gud" at this game, I would get seemingly random launches when trying to recover a fall. They weren't random. I simply hadn't got gud. I have evolved since then. I have perfect control of my landings now. One of the keys to controlling a launch is to put some circular motion into your "save me" swing so that when the hammer breaks contact, it's swinging down and away from the rock, and the swing propels you up and TOWARDS the rock.
sounds like u need to git gud too bro
