Computer overheating while playing
See title. My specs are:
Intel i5-4440 3.1 GHz
NVIDIA GTX 950
8 GB RAM (3.44 GB usable)
Running the game with task manager open shows that my GPU is running at max (mostly in the 3D chart), my CPU is running at half capacity (with spikes), and 2 GB of RAM are consistently being used. I run the game at 'worst' graphics and no motion blur.
Is there any way to reduce the graphics even further (eg. disabling paralax) or reduce framerate to avoid this? Or do I need to upgrade my hardware? If so, which one is the issue?
Thanks!

You shouldn't need to upgrade that.

My rig is six years old (except for the video card, which is three--GTX 960) and runs this game without breaking a sweat. Most of the graphic settings maxed. No overheating. My computer is all like "Oh, you gonna run Getting Over It? Sweet. Dear God, dude, you're boring me to death, gimme some Crysis or some bitcoin mining or SOMETHING".

Does your computer need a cleaning? Open up the case and blow the dust out of the heat sinks for the video card and CPU? Is a cooling fan starting to die?

When I first noticed that it was overheating, I thought it was the dust and cleaned it out. Then I realized it was still happening and only when running GOI. It could be the fans, though. How would I check that?

Dunno if there's an app to check fan speeds on GPU fans. Probably have to go to your video card manufacturer for that. Or just run open case and look to see if there's a stopped fan.

Nah, just use MSI Afterburner, any GPU should be fine with it. You can manually set fan curve there, and if not, you can easily manipulate the speed itself instead.
Of course, if you set the speed to 100% and don't really hear anything from the case, the fan might just be malfunctioning.

Although yeah, having your PC overheat with GOI is very fishy.

The best way to reduce the performance load of the game is to reduce the resolution setting.
