Often in this game when you try to move and it doesn't, it's either because the hammer is wedged, or because you aren't fighting hard enough against the "central gravity" of the hammer. Once you get the hang of it, it's fairly easy to manage. The hardest part being that whenever you're falling the hammer wants to constantly be straight pointing upward and in order to keep it in place, you have to be constantly trying to move it left or right.

Turn on track pad tuning in the options.

Even with the "trackpad tuning" the controls are like whatever. It feels like you're not even trying to "aim" with your mouse. The controls are so different from any game that its like learning to use mouse again. Its stupid. Just playing repeately and learning the "feel" of the mouse/hammer is how you play this game... Learnign to use mouse again. Super often youre not even moving your mouse yet the hammer moves and then pushes you away? I made it to the lamp tunnel in 3 minutes, then to the orange in 20 mins, and then I launch myself off even when I wasnt moving my mouse at all. Game also keeps throwing these turbo-fedora quotes and plays some classic music waow.

If you wanna play another difficult 2d platformer I would suggest Tinertia. It actually has content yet its completely dead and forgotten game unlike this game that has just 1 level/world and its about fightning controls. Tinertia is like 2d rocket jumping "speedrunning" game and it plays EXCELLENT on a gamepad.

I've heard rumors of the random mouse freaking out but I've never had that issue in 17 completions and I have several friends who play lots of other mouse games like FPS and not a single one of them have complained about this game doing that to them.

I'm suspicious that people blame the controls for their failures and don't realize how little control they have of their own mice. Perhaps people have 1600+ DPI and max sensitivity. Either that or people are using crappy $5 generic laptop mice with bad sensors.

thanks for this, I was curious but I don;t think I have the patience. You should write a review if you havenm't already.

1) try turning off mouse acceleration (use trackpad tuning)
2) stop blaming the controls over the fact that the game refuses to simply hand you the victory.
The author of this topic has marked a post as the answer to their question.

I'm 31 years old, played this game with both Logitech and Razer mice.
Game performs almost flawlessly. Certainly good enough for people to beat it in less than 2 minutes. It will take you quite a few hours until you figure out how to play it, but once you do, you will be ashamed of this post. The sooner you stop blaming the game, the faster you will be able to find and correct the real issues.
