General question FAQ
Here are some other frequently asked questions, and the answers to them:

1. Will you bring the game to Linux?

This is on my list of things to do, but it might be a while. Windows users are 97% of my customers, and Mac is 3%, which means Linux will be about 0.5% or less. I want to serve you, but I also have to prioritize the 99.5% of the users.

2. Can you put in Steam Workshop or a level editor?

This is a really nice idea lots of people have asked about, and I'm glad you enjoy the game enough to want more of it. It would be easy to do this if I had written my own editor to make the game, but I just used Unity's built-in editor... so this would be a pretty major undertaking. I will think about making a sequel that is built from the ground up with this in mind.

3. What about multiplayer?

This isn't on my roadmap, but if you want a game in this style that works with multiplayer, I recommend Daniel Steger's 'Mount Your Friends' ($5 on steam) or Super Pole Riders, a game I made for Sportsfriends, which was part of the inspiration for Getting Over It.

4. I got this game on Humble Monthly - can I have a steam key?

If you were subscribed in time for the October monthly, when this game launched, you should have a Steam key in your Humble account now.

5. Can you add support for gamepads?

There already is support for gamepad control in the game, but it's undocumented because I don't love it. Just plug in a gamepad and start playing with it. You need to use both analog sticks. I can get up about as far as the orange table with this input method, but I've confirmed every area in the game is completable. But it doesn't feel as good as a mouse or trackpad, in my view.

6. I don't like the mouse acceleration!

If you put it in trackpad mode (from the setting menu) there will be no acceleration curve applied. In my testing, everyone who was using a mouse complained of hand cramp if there was no curve (because it's hard to move a mouse a very small amount) but if you want, you can play it that way.

I think some of the people who complain of mouse acceleration are really reacting to the fact that the cursor automatically returns to the hammer head when you aren't moving it fast. This is an essential design decision that allows you to do things like stand on the hammer or safely perch on a ledge with the hammer, but it can feel a bit like mouse acceleration. If I turned it off, it would be more or less impossible to get up the mountain.

Jamais Vu - i would need a better merch partner. I want to get Fangamer on board.

Cate - make sure you turn down the resolution and turn off motion blur. I am going to bring over some optimizations from the mobile port once they are deployed there.

Can you add extra mountains/levels (Atleast when you complete the game). Everyone wants a level editor just so they can play more levels... so... if you can't make a level editor... just make more levels?

pls?

._.

I did that last one by jumping from the 'Wrong Way' sign onto the pliers and then pogoing and swing myself above from a higher up ledge. I did these both with no hacks or anything, they're both legit, and I know these aren't questions or anything but come on, look how cool these spots are!

I just used it because you don't have to make an account to upload images, it's not a virus or anything lol. I don't know why you would think that, the website is completely safe. No ads or anything. [/quote]

You don't have to make an account to upload anything on imgur. Just drag the image into the website and copy the link

Is there anyway to reset the mouse sensitivity setting to default? I was pretty comfortable with the preset and shouldn't have messed with it :/

I'm asking in regards that games are easy to pirate from GOG, so if you begin to sell the game on gog, it may be swarmed with pirates wanting to try this masterpiece made of pure irritation and falling in physical form.

This is not advocacy for piracy! Pirates are simply not the boogeyman the industry likes to make them out to be. If they were Witcher 3 would see no success at all. History has shown that the best way to deal with them is to reward the paying customer as much as possible, Every pirate is a potential customer and every pirate you annoy is a potential customer lost. Let us not forget that people will torrent games they've paid for just to escape the DRM placed on them. Not entirely legal but not entirely piracy either. I love GOG and have bought games from there that I already owned; and at full price too.

but main thing with piracy is that poepel are getting a game without paying - adn if lots of poeel end up to pirate then devs will earn little to no money

hey bennett, why, when i finally got over it, did it go straight to the menu when i clicked yes after accepting the agreement. Is there actually an prize for winning and my game glitched or something. PLEASE DONT TELL ME IT BUGGED UP AND I NEED TO PLAY AGAIN!

Hi Bennett! I’m having an issue with the reward. Once I actually beat the game, it will take thirty seconds for it to just kick me out back to the main menu. Here’s the catch - my real name is coincidentally Bennett. I feel like there’s something in the game that tries to stop imposters from getting to the reward. I’ve beaten the game twice already and it has done this both times. I know for a fact this is not an issue with my network or firewall. Is my name the issue or is it something on my end?
bennett  [developer] Jan 7, 2018 @ 1:34pm
Sorry for that Bennett. Just put a different name in - yeah it automatically kicks people who try to come in as impostors. (Of course, there could ALSO be an issue with your firewall, or the server may also be overloaded)
