Remove the forest map
This map is a terrible experience. Get stuck on everything, so incredibly biased towards defense with a giant open cliff combined with the terrible rock climbing.

Put foliage to low and magically watch ALL of the grass and shrubs on the map disappear. the only thing obscuring your vision after that is the shadows. this map is broken and the game perpetuates cheating on it. but that's to be expected: the maps were not optimized to actually played on. they're UE5 store assets to be used as a template and they aren't even remotely designed for functioning competitive PVP. maps like the house seem like a good idea on paper but play the bomb mode long enough and you'll see people either throwing the bomb in the basement which is unbreachable or throwing it on the roof which is also unbreachable because both only have one entry point and they can be camped to oblivion. 3 lanes? non-existent

im on a 4090 and 7800x3d, the visuals on that map are terrible. The shadows are pitch black and blurry as all hell

Yeah, it's dark in a forest, just like in reality, I didn't find it blurry though and was able to hunt people down just fine by watching gir movement and sticking to the shadows, the way you woukd ijn a real forest.

Oh dear god, if foliage vanishes at lower settings, that is a monstrous oversight.

I enjoyed the game and it ran well, but I refunded it as overall, it felt like it was a bit too early and figured I'd wait and see how it developed, stuff like this makes me think I made the right choice.

Shadows are supposed to be pitch black.

.....no, no they are not. This is why most games have ambient occlusion as a setting. Light bounces, just because a shadow is cast there does not mean its pitch black.

So you are saying there isn't supposed to be a contrast between light and dark?

have you ever walked into a dark tunnel or left one? Can you see into it from the outside or better yet, out of it, from the dark inside?

You can't most times but it depends on the position of the sun. You will almost never be able to see inside and only if the conditions are right, the sun is above and not in front of the opening, will you be able to see out, from the inside of the dark tunnel.

This is how it works, your retinas aren't instant, they need time to adjust and I think the devs did a great job with this. You are just mad cause you are impatient and want to run around and CoD this game.

Yeah, it definitely needs some structures.

I think same, they should reduce the trees and add some structures.

Yes, i can see into the tunnel from the outside. Can i see deep into it? no. Is a shadow under a tree nearly the same as a tunnel? No. Are your retina adjusting to a shadow in the distance? No. Shadows under trees and in forests are not pitch black, not even close.

At dusk, overcast-ish, which, is the time the map seems to be mostly for me, in thick cover, yeah, it can get very dark in places, likewise in other parts it's fairly well lit, oddly, like the map, if it's all in pure darkness, id say your settings are off.

Yes, it could use some tweaking, but, it also encourages the risk vs reward of using the flash light.

Looks to be mid day to me. The maps not entirely dark, its actually pretty bright. Like youre saying, its just overly dark in thick cover. When looking at areas like that from a distance or even walking through them it just breaks my immersion, its way too dark. Sons of the forest did an amazing job with their forest...as they should lol. Light bleeds through leafs, branches, refracts, reflects but in this game we just get crazy dark, full coverage shadows.

I like the map. Its like hunters and runners but in real life. Reminds me of my childhood running through the woods.
