"Cannot go that way"
I can't go anywhere, save for the arena. What gives?

Are you doing a particular quest? Because the only quest that I think does this is the last quest in the game. Have you finished the intro tutorial by talking to all the NPCs in town?
Eudae Aug 11, 2015 @ 1:31pm
I've only talked to Leona, Grigor, the guy that hands out quests, and the blacksmith/jeweler. It looks like the tutorial has been completed (disappears from screen as opposed to new characters) but I am still unable to get anywhere other than straight to the arena and the 2 maps just northeast of when you first exit the town.

I've also gone through all the quest dialogue for the quest guy about the 4 outposts, if it helps.

Is your character actually saying "Cannot go that way" or is something else happening? Have you tried restarting the game?

Yes, I've tried starting the game and making another character. The "Cannot go that way" message pops up at the top. I'll grab a screenshot shortly.

Can you try deleting your Adventures.exe and then verifying steam files to redownload it?

Also, can you open the launcher and click View -> Error Log and post any errors in there, here?

After you post any error logs and redownload the Adventures.exe, try updating your video card drivers. This might be due to a surface drawing error from a video card, causing the world to not properly draw for you.

Are you running any other video software? It could also be a ram issue.

ERROR in
action number 10
of Create Event
for object objGame:

Trying to use non-existing surface.

Is the only error log popping up (15000 lines of this). Video card drivers are up to date nvidia. Running windows 10. Not running any other video software at the moment. I don't think it's defective ram issue and probably not a not-enough ram issue.

Ya a surface error is generally caused from a video card error, in which case the only thing you can really do is try and update drivers and make sure you aren't running any background programs. :/

Wanderlust Rebirth works fine on my machine (as well as every other game) and I'm assuming it's largely the same engine. Drivers are completely up to date and there are no extraneous background processes running.

edit: I just cleaned all drivers off my system and reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers (353.62). Same issue.

I had this exact same issue, the root of the problem was SLI. Once I disabled SLI in Nvidia control panel (and ran off 1 video card instead of 2) the game worked fine and let me travel around the map no problem.

When I updated my drivers it got rid of the problem

But now it's back again... WTF

And btw I don't have SLI on nvidia that option doesn't even exist on my control panel.

I've been playing for 9 hours with a friend and now we have this problem as well. We quit the game to have a food break, then got back into the game and now we can only enter a few specific zones and the rest of them state "Cannot go that way."

After 9 hours of playing I'm unwilling to restart the game, and without a fix for this issue then we can't continue. This is a game breaking bug that should be fixed.

We have tried verifying the game files through Steam and that didn't help.

Ok it appears restarting the game or restarting Steam did nothing, however, the problem went away after restarting the computer. Seems like there is some kind of memory cache bug in this game.
Mortac May 30, 2017 @ 6:18pm
A restart of the computer resolved the issue for me, however, my friend still has the same issues even after a restart. It didn't matter who hosted the game. We would have the problem anyhow. After my restart it works for both of us only if I host. If my friend hosts then the issue persists. This is an odd bug.
