And it's important to understand that you are not supposed to consistently kick out after finishers. So it's like in a "real" wrestling match - sometimes people kick out after a finisher, but more often they do not.
Now, you just need to get good and stop being a newb. When you are beaten you are done. Learn and master Reversals or the moment you are down you are done. You will win/lose only by how much better you are at Reversal than your opponents.
Try to bait your opponents signature/finisher moves, you will be happy. Always stay near ropes to ease sliding out of ring and running.
Design your moveset to attack Head/Chest/Legs only. I like to use Up grapples to the head, Down grapples to the legs, and left/right grapples to body on Heavyweights. As for lightweights, I like to use Down grapples for Legs, Left/Right for Arms, and Up for Head. To inflict "body" damage I focus on tope rope moves, whips into ringpost/stairs, and the bodyslam/suplex of diagonal + up/down grapples.
I've kicked out on the tineist bar before on 2.99 which was luck admittedly, but I will consistently kick out of a lot of slim pin margins. An alternative would be button mashing which I don't mind either, but this golf game style pin isn't nearly as bad as it first seems.
