The end of Anastasia's story
At the end of the game, I found out that despite revealing my true nature to Anastasia, she chose to stay human, and we stayed together - unfortunately until her death.

However, when I returned to the city, it was said that Anastasia never managed to complete her song, gave up her musical career, and left the city shortly after her divorce with Evgeny.

I'm very confused, surely this must be a bug, right? After all, I always encouraged her to continue her musical career and finished all her quests, it even says in the relationship bio that I did so (and, well, she didn't exactly divorce Evgeny... in the case of my run it was more... a sad and sudden widowhood, if you know what I mean...). I'm very upset that these narration errors keep happening in the game, did anyone have a different description of the end of Anastasia's story?

My ending was like this:
I enchanted Anastasia to finish her song and cooperate with Evgeny, and I enchanted Evgeny to finish his book. I never kissed or flirted with them. So, they remained a couple, worked together, opened the theatre, had many kids, and lived a happy family life.

You got the same ending I did playing the GoG version, and it sounds like you made the same choices I did as well. So if it is a bug, it's universal.

I found the ending a bit disappointing too. Revealing yourself as a vampire should ideally not IMHO, have been something that was reserved for an off-screen timeskip and only revealed in the epilogue. Would have been nice to have something more for the love interests in the endgame of Cabernet IMO. Particularly since if you choose one of the 'other' endings....you don't even get an epilogue. There's something of a lack of closure I think.

Hopefully the bug (and I assume it is one) gets squashed soon. The devs have been hard at work fixing those since release, from what I understand.
Hate to burst your bubble, but it's not a bug - it's the "sad and sudden Widowhood" you described that causes this ending - always happens when either of the two pass away, no matter the choices you made before or inbetween.

I remember enchanting Evgeny, but I'm not sure about Anastasia. Does it mean that I simply ignore their letters (which I just got) and hope for an "ok" ending, rather than the one rapidsfinesse is describing?

Well, basically yes - if you stay on good terms with both of them during the entire game and don't get into a love relationship with either Evgeny or Anastasia and tell both of them to finish their work (and neither of them pass away under any circumstances whatsoever) and you simply ignore their letters in the end where they tell you that they would like to see you again, you will ALWAYS get the ending that they overcame their marriage struggles and lived happily ever after.

Also, there is no "hope for an OK ending" involved, it's simply that Action A triggers Event B, which automatically leads to consequence C, that's how "Cabernet" works and it's pretty simple to figure that out, after a couple of completed playthroughs.

@denizstrutz: I did find a way to enchant Anastasia and tell her to finish her work. But I wanted to know what would happen if I Hadn't managed to do that, which is a question you didn't answer.

I have read other threads on a similar subject. There seem to be 3 possible endings:
a) Bad - Anastasia and Evgeny split, or one of them dies. Both end up miserable.
b) OK/Good - They stay together and live happily, but without fame or particular wealth.
c) Best - They stay together and live happily, while also becoming famous (and, presumably, rich as a consequence of their fame)

Look, if you want a "specific" answer (or ending) confirmed, go and ask the developers about it, they made the game, not me.

I just answered as someone who completed a 100% on "Cabernet"'s achievements and as someone who has seen all choices and possible outcomes and endings over a 7 complete runs of the game, so i know it's mechanics and what happens with closed eyes - if you believe what i say or not, is entirely up to you.
