Oh right it's the signature decks that have their own dedicated 5 minor arcana you can remove, right? (It's been a minute since I cleared those decks so I don't remember.)
But yeah, you're right. You can remove it on a per-fight basis with Transit Card, tough it out and take the occasional bust, mitigate with heals/shields, run Kanban Card to increase your chances of drawing it to the safety of your hand, have a foil Dis-Card, take some Get Out of Jail Free cards, run The Emperor to turn the mega-bust into an instant win, etc etc.
There's plenty of options. 5 of Swords is one of the bigger challenges in this game but it's very solvable.
Dark Mage is mainly for thinning your deck which is pointless in Full Deck. if you are relying on it to get you out of busts in full deck I am pretty sure you are doing something wrong.
