CSS won't download maps!
Ok so i'm having a major problem that is really annoying. When I first join a server I have a 50/50 chance of being able to download the maps, models and other things, however when the server changes maps, even maps I already have downloaded, CSS will download these maps and the download will freeze and never finish. I can only fix this by closing the game and restarting, I also get a Steam Cloud error message about the game being out of synch or something when I try and restart the game.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Then you should not have problem with Downloads

For Steam Cloud, I have the same problem, it's just because, your CS:S is close quickly, and you don't let him the time (some seconds) to synch with Steam Cloud. (I often close this windows, and "CS:S launch windows" to re-launch the game, then the message don't appear)

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

What do you mean "type in console"
It's a command that you have to submit in your console.

Looks like you already figured it out? Glad you got it fixed.

But when I had this issue many many years ago, I would

*Delete all my map files from "Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\download\maps".

*Check for file integrity to make sure nothing else was missing.

*Defrag my HDD was also an option but not always necessary. (DO NOT DO THIS WITH SSD HDD's! ONLY MECHANICAL SPINNING ONES! IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR SSD!)

*Log out of Steam, restart PC then log back in

*Then re-download the map again when you connect to the server. Most of the time the map file was probably corrupted and needed replacing.

*If it's a cloud issue then I'm not sure. I do not use that stuff so I can't help.
