Can i get VAC banned when i use the nvidia smoke trick(see enemy models through smoke)??

to use this trick i go to nvidia settings and enable Ambient occlusion
then i set my mat_dxlevel to 80. Then i can see the enemys models and other things like doors.
Is this a hack can i get vac banned ? or is it just changing graphic settings :P ?

No, vac bans only memory editors and some blacklisted programs I think.

Probably won't get VAC banned but you will have to live with the knowledge that your a cheater. You are exploiting to get an unfair advantage or to game the system.

VAC ban = .exe file
No VAC ban = .cfg / .txt / .res / .ahk / bug (like with your nvidia)

With this trick you can see the enemys models thrugh smoke just google it for screenshots^^
To activate it go to

Nvidia settings(rightclick on desktop) > Manage 3d-settings > change Ambient occlusion to Performance > click apply

In css you must use directx 8 to do this you must
write "mat_dxlevel 80" in your console, autoexec or in your launch options.

Then you can throw a smoke and kill da nubs^^

But you can be banned in some leagues if you play competitive mode

You'll be booted from many servers and banned once they see you're killing through smoke nut not VAC banned.

Maybe banned by the SMAC (Source Mod Anti Cheats) of the servers but not by VAC

If you're a good guy you won't use it, as it's pretty much cheating. But as said by others, no, you sadly won't get vac banned for it.

VAC runs a scan on your PC to see if you have any KNOWN 3rd party programs running in the background that alters the way of play .. The list is huge, yet stuff like ventrilo, teamspeak is safe ...
