Many others go with the philosophy that the most powerful weapons are the best regardless and they're easy to spot, but hey man, whatever - each to his own out there. I always get to them too ;) It's only gaming after all. Enjoy !
you start with $800 so here are the basics
(keep in mind that most guns, from medium to close range, are a 1-shot headshot kill if the enemy has no head armor. but head armor can change that to up to 3 headshot hits for a kill with some guns. this also being a reason why certain guns are preferred, depending on round and what the opposing team is predicted to buy-armor and whatnot.) :
1st round is pistol round-you can choose to either upgrade to a better pistol, buy body armor, buy a combination of nades, buy a kit if youre ct or full save.
2nd round is the smg round. if you WON the first round, most will buy an mp5, but depending on side (ct or t) and how much $ was spent the first round, you can also choose the tmp, galil, or famas (clarion) or even a scout or p90 (very underrated gun), or any other smg, and a combination of nades and armor. if you LOST the first round, you can either deag save, full save, or make a kit or nade purchase or two while (mostly) saving. if youre really brave (or stupid) you can counter-buy an smg. but if you die youll likely be broke or near-broke for 'gun round'.
3rd round will depend on if you won both, lost both, or split the first two rounds and whether you survived and how your economy stands, but generally you'll also save this round unless youre the winning team, or light buy (deag/armor/nades of some kind).
4th round is gun round, the full-buy round. by this round you should have enough $ to afford either an awp or rifle of some kind (normally the m4 or ak) along with the pistol of your choice (usually a deag if youre an awper) and a good amount of nades and full armor. the p90 can also be useful this round if youre playing an aggressive close-quarters position.
after 4th round, the way you buy depends on your team's economy and your round wins and losses. generally youll want to buy along with your team, and (with exceptions) not do too much force-buying, to keep your economy strong.
so anyway, as you can see. more than 3-4 guns are useful in competitive play but certain guns are more useful on gun rounds (full-buy rounds). in pubs where a lot of the time you have $16k to work with each round, and in CSS where dust2 is the preferred map on what seems like 50% of servers, certain guns are more powerful and/or accurate and preferred over others (deag, m4, ak, awp). hope this helps.
There was time when the more people bought a gun the price went up. CS weapon market or something it was called.
It was great as it meant rubbish but fun guns became dirt cheap along with nightvision.
Once again the brats spoiled it by crying lots even though server owners could switch it off.
THEN whoever was in charge of updating CSS went and made changes that messed up shotguns so you no longer can jump and shoot straight with them.
fecking idiots......
Here's someone whos good at shooting fairly fast.
