Join Steam Beta Update to see if that fix your problems.

You will find the option in the parameters of Steam.

I've done that and I'm still in the same problem...

Maybe firewall or other real-time protection software is blocking some parts of game's connectivity.

Try to unlock hl2.exe in your firewall or temporarily disable the software and see, if it finds the connection.

I've turned my firewall off, but it's still not working. What's that you said about "Try to unlock hl2.exe in your firewall", how do I do that? I know where hl2.exe is but how do I unlock with my firewall?

Deppends on the FW release you have, but mainly it's about entering FW's settings, browsing for hl2.exe (or searching, if it's already cached by FW) and giving the file all network permissions, but...

...it's not related to your case though, cause disabling FW didn't help in solving your problem.

The last thing you can do is Clean system formatting, deleting old program files (if some apps or games were installed outside the system partition. Good step here is backing up all custom stuff and CFGs, so you won't need to set, and to download everything up from scratch again) and installing all you need in a clean way.

Important thing is making a very clean backup and what it means now. It means you need to delete everything except stuff, that is really important and usually NOT included by default in a game or a program. Mostly you just delete everything, what comes by default, but not always, so your brain is a useful factor in all this.

Good luck.

could uninstalling and installing steam be an option?
As long as I back up things of course XD

You can always try. Format C should be always a last idea, unless you know your system is deeply infected or damaged and repairing would cost too much time. Try anything you can think of before formatting.

Uninstalled everything (except I backed up steamapps), however the servers will still not load up!

If you don't know, I doubt you were messing with that and I doubt it could stop steam from finding servers, while default settings are not as low, to completely block a Serverbrowser's searching ability.

If you use a router check it's settings or call your provider, maybe they've blocked something.
