CS:S - Crashing every time I launch it...
So I was playing CS:S last night in a bhop server. I played for about 20 minutes then the game closed itself. I was getting a bit bored anyway and just left it.

Today I tried to play again and the game just closes itself within 2-3 seconds of opening every time. Sometimes I see the beginning of the Valve logo, other times it's just a black screen and then it closes.

I tried verifying my game cache and it didn't help.

Anyone got any ideas? :S

Alright, allow me to rephrase...

Does anyone with the ability to muster more than a single word, completely void of grammar or punctuation, have any ideas?

Did you try extern programs like HLSW to join a server?
Got the same problem as you.

I tried reinstalling and it's still the same. Crashes on startup.

I got "hl2.exe has stopped working" the first time. Every time since it just closes with no error message.

Will try HLSW and see if that works but this still sucks... It would be nice to actually be able to launch the game...

have you tried deleting clientregistry.blob ? or verifying game cache ? 2 commanly known fixes :)

As I already wrote in the other topic , I have a suspicion that a windows update might be the cause. I did a system restore this night and it removed the latest windows update, thereafter the game worked. Windows updated itself automatically later .. today I got the same problem again.

It crashes upon the start immediatly or after it loaded the menu background.

In the morning when nobodys playing...it work... but in the afternoon its dont work...why? why? why?

Custom Models/Trails? making your game close?
