It is actually a variation of the quake engine, as half life 2 had elements of quake in it.

You are welcome to modify the original quake code if you want, as it is now opensource on github.

No. They actually committed Fraud.
They tried to call it Counter-Strike 2 fraudulently.
Fact is, its nowhere near the game Counter-Strike.
Hence, a Mod, of a Mod, of a Mod.

Counter-Strike 2 would be Counter-Strike: Source ported to Source 2.
Not CSGO2.
And even then, should be " Counter-Strike Source 2 ".

Like " Counter-Strike: Global Offensive " is a separate product than " Counter-Strike ".
Therefore, it is FRAUD ( Conspiracy to Commit Fraud ) that Valve has committed.
By naming " Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 2 " " Counter-Strike 2 ".

Only a handful of games went into Source 2 so far.

Source 2 is a 3D video game engine currently in development by Valve as a successor to Source. It is used in Dota 2, SteamVR Home, Half-Life: Alyx, S&box, Counter-Strike 2, and more.

Emphasis. Half Life: Alyx is HL3. If they were honest.
HL ( quake 2 mod ), HL2 ( Source ), HL3:Alyx ( Source 2 )

Had you been correct, other titles would have also had the "2".
Therefore, proving your argument as incorrect.
The " 2 " in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive 2. Just means its a Sequel.

Valve definitely Conspired to Commit Fraud, by naming it " Counter-Strike 2 ".
Which CSGO2 is not.

It is also already an OBSOLETE, OUTDATED engine.
Originally developed in 2008/2009.
Officially released sloppily in 2015. ( Still no standalone SDK )
With many bugs, and exploits with its heavily scripted C++, Python, luaJIT sloppily scripted programming.

Didnt you notice with CSGO2?
How they overwrote the game CSGO?
Instead of giving it a unique game/appid?
Like they did to every other prior Title?

Valve has been committing FRAUD for a few years now.
However, the latest release.
CSGO2. Fraudulently calling it " Counter-Strike 2 ".
As sloppily developed, and rushed to market as it was.

Original game was a Quake 2 mod.
Heavily modified Quake 2 engine.
Source engine retained legacy commands / functions from that original Quake 2 engine.

Later, Erik Johnson redeveloped the original Quake 2 modded engine.
After the launch of Steam, and Source / Havok.

And falsely calls it " GoldSRC ".

tldr,

but someone should port, like, Insertion, Seaside, & Italy, Tuscan, Canals, Cobblestone, Militia, and any other ones they want to do, to CS:S

Because I want to play these maps again, & not just with bots,

without installing 60gb worth of space of two games (cs:2 garbo & cs:go legacy beta), when I could just be playing them in CS:S which is better hit reg & spread pattern anyway.

btw if u begin this quest, and start to do some of the maps I said, & then veer off and do other ones, which's fine - but if don't do at least the ones I said, I am coming for you in your sleep :GanadoRE4:

Yeah that would be cool, sadly I doubt Valve will do such a thing. Your only hope is that some programmer out there uses the leaked CS:GO code to make an updated version of CSS.

Wrong, GoldSource is Valve's offshoot of Quake engine (Unreal being Epic's iirc). Quake engine was made open source decades ago. Source (1) and Source 2 are the direct close source successors to GoldSource respectively.

It's possible if you use ENB or ReShade, but those will result in a VAC ban if playing online, so best to use those mods locally.

GameBanana, Mod DB, and other sites already have CSGO maps ported over to CSS, including Insertion, Seaside, Italy, and Militia. Other CSGO maps that got ported include Bank, Safehouse, Lake, St. Marc's, Dust, Dust 2, Nuke, Inferno, Train, Aztec, Compound, Italy, Vertigo, Mirage, Agency, Zoo, Hijack, Pharoah, Cruise, Motel, Season, Rialto, Austria, Cache, Kabul, Fend, Siege, Overpass, Extraction, Gasoline, Santorini. There's some other maps ported to CSS as well, but I can't remember their names atm (they're all wingman).
