Yes, that is true, even CS 1.6 has a larger player base. So, if I get banned there, I just find a new favorite server to play on, and I don't bother with it at all. But now, in CSS, there are only two good vanilla public servers without any bots or mods. One is only DD2, and the other plays different and unknown maps to me, which makes it even more interesting.
Now, I haven't recieved a message from their forum yet, but the admin who banned me accepted my friend request on Steam. Keep in mid my profile is public, and his is not.
I reached out to him or her, I'm not sure, and it doesn't really matter. I said that there was a misunderstanding, explainded that i spent countles hours into the CS franchise and asked why he decided to perma ban me. It was really funny to me because the main reasons were:
1. The enemy team was shouting that I am a cheater
2. I have negative comments in my profile with them saying that I am a cheater
3. And the third is that in the first three rounds, I had 11-0 score in a 16v16 match
All of those reasons don't justify the ban, and i bet that he didn't even look to see if I am playing suspiciously. I also explainded why I have those comments and don't delete them, I keep them as a trophy. I also told him that he can't just assume that I am a cheater because of the enemy team shouting at me. High KD ratio is pretty normal for more experienced player and in CS:S u can basically run and gun, all of the weapons spray like the number 7.
Then the admin told me that he's going to discuss it with the team and let me know... like, seriously?
After collecting hundreds of games on my account, I would be upset if I was unjustly banned. It would tempt me to walk away from steam entirely for GOG. At least DRM-free can't be taken away from you.
Meanwhile the anti-cheat technologies are invasive, have too many false positives, get to spy on every level of your computer -- filesystem, ram, etc... and who can verify that they are not doing nefarious things like collecting and selling data when it's fiscally advantageous to do so?
The only thing I can think of is to roll your own and become your own server and island but that isn't a ideal solution either.
The only reason I still play CSS is for the Surf+RPG+DM -- CSGO surf never got the RPG+DM right -- and the levels are much worse with obnoxious ceilings to hit your head on and wreck your surf.
Human or even bot error can be frustrating for sure.
You should pray to lose weight now.
You are completaly right, bein falsely accused can be problematic, especially when you've invested so much time into gaming. The concerns about anti-cheat and data privacy are valid.
The game isn't growing, it's decreasing. Creating a completely new server with an active player base is nearly impossible.
CS:S surf is a really enjoyable experience. I haven't played it much. In CS 1.6, I was playing Surf and KZ maps a lot with bunnyhops. For me, it is easier in CS 1.6 than in Source, it has that unique movement. CS:S was a great successor to CS 1.6, but the movement in CS:GO, and now for CS 2, hasn't replaced it well.
Even though I have expensive graphics cards I often prefer CSS to CSGO because the perfect frame rate makes everything so amazingly smooth.
I play CSGO mainly for its competetive aspect and ranking system. These days I've been playing it a lot because I'm just one rank away from reaching Global Elite. I'd like to achieve that before CS 2 is released, which will have significantly different and more challenging ranking system. Many pekple seem excited about it. In CS 2, you will have separate rank for each map, which means achieving Global on every map would be incredibly difficult. I'm sure some die-hard players will attempt it.
This is why I continue to play CSGO, and plan to stop once CS 2 is out. I don't have the time to grind through a new ranking system, and my PC struggles to handle the demo version of the game, getting only 60-100 fps on low-medium settings, for CS game is unplayable. That's why I am gradually moving away from it. The game is constantly evolving, with bew features and improved graphics, and you need an up to date graphic card to enyoj these popular online games. I have an old midrange PC from 2016 that used to perform well and still does decently, with a exceptions. I haven't encountered major issues with CSGO on it.
Even tho i found graphics, gameplay, and movement more appealing in CSS than CSGO, they are quite similar in terms of graphics, with the main differences being the more detailed maps and the introduction of money-grabbing and gambling elements in CSGO. People spend hundreds of dollars trying to get valuable skins, which often leads to disappointment when they recieve only a few cent in return. This practice can be seen as a form of scamming in a different way, which is why I dont bother with skins. I did try to open some cases for fun and had decent inventory at one point, but I ended up selling it all and using the funds to purchase games, which i find more worthwhile than a few pixels on the screen. You can access similar content for free in CS 1.6 or CSS, all though that is not really my preference.
I've been unbanned from the server, and it's a relief to be back. The ban was indeed unnecessary, and it's unfortunate that reaching out to the admin team was necessary to resolve the issue.
Tip: Avoid tryhard.
