game randomly crashes

how do i prevent random crashes while im in game?

running an rtx 3070 & i7 11700KF with no mods or anything that could be conflicting.
I've tried reinstalling, verifying files and nothing fixes it. but whats interesting is every other computer I own doesn't crash like my main pc does...

does your main PC have Windows 11; specifically, is it a standalone copy or you were on 10 and then switched to 11?

I get 1 instant crash to desktop every couple weeks. I never restart my desktop unless I have to though. Would have to look into error logs.

I did have more that usually were right at a map change a couple years ago. I backed up my custom maps downloads to a different location and let them redownload from servers I play on. That solved my on map change crashes.

do you have RTX GPUs for other PCs too? because RTX are known for having compatibility issues with DirectX9 API; Nvidia has acknowledged it but they never released a patch to fix it despite promising to iirc

You can try using DXVK, which is some wrapper that translates DirectX instructions to Vulkan; although that's assuming Vulkan isn't supported natively for CSS (which I'm sure that Valve has integrated into Steam and/or to their games).

Someone tried it ? do you get vacced on CSS for DXVK ?

a slight update to the issue, turns out the only thing that crashes my game is awp clan servers... -_- still annoying but at least I know source is only good for bhoping...
