Use item key to pick weapons?

Hi, i saw several csgo gameplay where a player holding the knife on his hands walks near a droped gun (e.g. a pistol) and with a keystroke his pistol goes away and pick up the one on the floor. Same for a rifle holding a pistol.

I did investigate and it's done with the "Use item" key (default e) but when y tryed here nothing happens, there is something bad with my game or it doesn't work like that here?

twelve are the amount hours you have played this game so chill out man.. with "g" key you just throw a gun, don't change it for one on the floor and i know that

You can't this is CS:Source, not CS:GO.

The use key can not be used to replace your weapon with a dropped weapon like in Global Offensive. The use key can only open up doors.

There is a command that lets you drop a weapon but you'd have to go over the other gun you want to pick up manually. Just pause the game then go to Options > Keyboard/Mouse.
