Clantag not working

Hey there,

Together with some friends we recently created a steamgroup for CS:S. However, when I try to activate the new clantag (menu > multiplayer > advanced > set clan tag) it doesn't show up ingame. My friends are having the exact same issues. When I check the game console it gives me the following report:

'userconfig.cfg' not present; not executing.
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/config.cfg

I've re-installed the game, deleted cfg files, verified game cache and googled around a bit, but nothing seems to fix the issue. Hopefully anyone in here can help me!

There was a bug some time ago where the game had to be restarted after Applying and Accepting the clan tags' changes, so I'd suggest you trying it out. The other console reports aren't really related; "userconfig" stands for the user's custom configs/settings, while Host_WriteConfiguration actually shows it has edited the main configuration file ("config.cfg"), which is most likely saving the clan tag into the file.

Thanks for your reply and explanation. Ive tried restarting after applying the clan tag changes, but unfortunately this didnt work aswell. The crazy thing is that other clan tags that I try are working fine. Only with this specific new steamgroup its not working.

I started up CS:GO to check and the tag does work in CS:GO...

Hey Xpire, no I havent found a solution for this problem. I do have to admit that I stopped trying to find a solution for this problem. Around two weeks ago I played CS:S again, and still the clan tag didnt work. Sorry, cant help you with this unfortunately :(

Damn, I have the same problem. I searched google all day today and found nothing. That can not be true, damn it! If anyone has a solution to the problem please tell us!

Problem Fixed.
Had the same problem as above.
Tried everything, erasing all cfg files, turning off steam sync, anything, and everything.
The only thing that worked was starting a new group WITHOUT any avatar chosen.
For whatever reason, all the groups I started, would not let a tag be selected if an avatar was unloaded. Also steam does not allow group avatars to be erased once uploaded, only replaced with another avatar.

In short, don't select any avatar for your groups, and if you have already, start an almost identical group, with no avatar.
Problem solved.
