How to install skins/mods? Help!

I'm sorry, I think I'm a bit late to buy the game but I somehow got this on discount so it's all good I guess... I'm interested in the modding and whatnot. The problem is... I have no idea how to install skins/mods! I tried a lot of things but doesn't seem to work... I even followed the less detailed instruction and still doesn't seem to apply to the game... I need some advice on this from the community. Oh, I hope you'll give tips on modding without mod manager like Modboy

there should be a readme file inside this folder:
steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\custom\

If you don't have that folder, create it and put your (unzipped) custom skins in there. Load the game and it should work, you can't use custom skins on all servers - check what the server has sv_pure set as.

for mods/addons, it depends what kind it is, they usually go into:
steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\addons\

eg:
steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\addons\metamod\
steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\addons\sourcemod\
steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\addons\sourcemod\plugins\

Thanks... Actually I'm trying to see if this works this time... I didn't try the custom thing since I didn't really understand what I should do. Be right back!

EDIT : Wow! It works! Thanks so much! I downloaded COD Modern Warfare skins and it works perfectly!

I believe I need to put a folder called "my_custom_stuff" in there
