How to make a map in CS:S

I want to know. How can I make my own custom map in Counter-Strike: SOURCE and play it online. Do I also need to make my own server and if so how do I do that

then whats up with maps like de_westwood and cs_nightfever. They don't look like normal CS:S maps

Yes, you can make custom maps in Source and you shouldn't need to make your own server. I'm not really an expert on mapping, but you would need to use a map editor tool or program, like Hammer Editor. There are tons of resources online for mapping, so Google is your best friend. Be patient because it can be complicated at times. Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hammer is the only way man. it was the main map making tool for valve since the first half life (i guess) and is still used until now for newer games like csgo and also works with css
