Sure
1. Vastly improved building system (better than ASE even with mods)
2. Traits(there is a mod to enable using these for free)
3. Wild baby dinos and the way that can change taming especially if the level isn't as important as the creature. Especially in early game.
4. The structure skins and some though not all of the items in the Bob's Tall Tales pack.
5. Ark Additions creatures have come or are coming as official creatures
6. New content in the forms of new Dinos and in November a brand new story ark
The graphics improvements are somewhat nice but to me that is only a bonus. I will state that I run on medium settings and the game looks pretty good and is pretty stable for me as well. When the game first launched, I crashed a couple times a day at least. Now, I might crash once a week. If I do it is normally when I first join a map, I just relaunch the game and typically can play for hours with no crashes.
While you might think I am just defending the game, I will also say that I feel like that Wildcard has made major mistakes with the game as well. For example, I stated that ASA release would make a good case study of what not to do when you relaunch a game.
I do honestly think ASA is an improvement over ASE even as it sits now. I will straight up also say both games have had issues over the years but have also improved over the years.
This post is going very long for which I apologize. I hope this clarifies at least some for you though.
I don't know the back end changes to know enough if it would have been possible or not.
As far as it supposed to be a free update, they changed what they wanted to do. Originally, the were just going to release the switch port over. Instead they decided to redo the game.
Regardless, either way while one of the lead developers from Wildcard made a post on his personal social media account. Who knows if Snail games made them do it this way? or what happened between the two announcements that made them change their mind.
I will say if they would have made the building changes in ASE it would have probably broke many players bases which would have made a lot of players mad.
Confused by this post, I don't see anything in that crunch that is relevant to this post.
