Linux direct x 12 error

when I try to open the game i get this message, can anyone help me.
" DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument."

If you don't know how to troubleshoot Linux problems, stick to windows.
You should know by now to be helped you would need to post what distro you are running, what drivers you are running, what hardware you are running, ect.
The steam forums are a bad place to get linux help, try searching for help in the community for your distro or general linux forums.

Proton GE 10-23 is the one im using
(Launch without command/argument)

i am a relative of the OP and have run linux debian wheezy, from what i can find on steamdb and other posts online this issue does affect some windows machines but is generally resolved with -dx11 or -d3d11 however it did not solve the problem in this case, i advised them to make a post on here about the issue since i have no idea why it is not working, and i don't have a copy of my own to test with, this issue started on day 1 of installation, and many other games include some that use directx12, it is possible that one of the updates since the game has come out has changed things since some of the posts on protondb which has been my experience in the past with some issues with other games.

OS: Devuan GNU/Linux 5 (daedalus) x86_64
CPU: Intel i7-8700K (12) @ 4.700GHz
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon RX 470
RAM: 32GB

for those who have no idea what devuan is its a debian fork that excludes systemd
so every thing that applies to debian or any debian based distro applies to this distro.

your attitude is smug and not at all help full not all linux users who run steam and proton are going to be as knowledge able as you would like especially with the end of windows 10 and the mess that is windows 11.

installed the latest version of ProtonGE with the same issue, so this didn't fix it.

For me it works with

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 DXVK_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 %command%

But obviously, I run wayland and HDR.

I admit it’s weird, a lot of people have this issue, and many of them are on Linux too.
But what I really want to understand is why (on my setup: CachyOS, 9070XT, 9800X3D) using the latest version of Proton GE, the game runs extremely well.
On Epic settings I even reach performance close to, or equal to, an RTX 5090, and I’ve never had a single crash.
I’m not trying to say the game is well optimized (because it’s really not), but my setup manages to run it smoothly. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to perform that well at all.

I have played ASE for years up until a couple months ago, and was able to play on epic settings. I was gifted ASA and after DL not able to even start up the game due to stated error. I even went back and tried to play ASE again but am having issues there too now. I love this game I think it was an ingenious, captivating game but it makes me heartbroken that it has crap support. What a waste.
