ANOTHER 180GBS PATCH

Honestly, ♥♥♥♥ YOU wildcard. Once again i have to waste the whole day reinstalling this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game that cannot properly update itself. ♥♥♥♥ whoever is at duty to update the game. I hate everyone

ok and? i still cannot download since the game asks for 180 more GB. Is this information supposed to change anything? I still had to uninstall and install the whole game again. Its like saying "oh no, you did not get shot gy a glock, you were shot by sig sauer!". I am still in a bad place

Its not downloading 180gb, that is the size of the game files being patched and solely dependent on the speed of your PC and by having enough free space to unpack the archive files the game uses. Think of them as like huge zip files.

Why does it use this system? Because it is how unreal engine keeps its files secure from cheaters. Yes it sucks needing 200gb free for the game to be patched but this is how Ark has always been and its just how Unreal engine and Steam work.

I have a fast PC with lots of free space on the SSD ark is on and this patch took me less than 5 minutes.

unfortunately i have 500GB storage and i physically cannot have double the space of ark

As posted in the other thread. Ark is not well suited to patching. It utilizes huge single files some close to 200GB in size as such even a few bytes changed within this one file alone will kick off a reconstruction that requires 200 GB of additional storage as it recreates the new file with the delta changes.

Steam works best with games that have many smaller files, hell all patching systems work better when you have smaller files.

I know money is tight for everyone these days but have you considered buying a second SSD? They are pretty cheap, like on Newegg you can get a 512gb SSD for $26 usd. I spend more than that on lunch everyday.

I would not opt for a 512GB drive when the game is over 250GBs I would recommend at least a TB drive due to how patching works.

I have a laptop and im in russia so getting an ssd replaced is a death sentence

just patched it again. but now whenever i open any session i get like a wall of text and the game crashes, does anyone else having this issue.

It is what it is. Action have consequences. Though I'm not sure that playing this game on a laptop missing a ssd, would be fun anyways?
