Sorry, what? If it goes up and down depending on where you are it means you have settings that are lower than your GPU can handle. I have no idea where this "Your GPU should not run at 100%" nonsense comes from (probably some reddit post), but it's complete and utter bovine excrement. If it's not at 100% it means you're not utilizing it to the max, and that should normally only be when you have your FPS capped, and your settings low enough that your GPU isn't used fully. This could be useful if you have cooling issues, but it's not "normal".

You're wrong.
Standing inside a base won't require 100 % power. Thats just a complete waste of power, and your cpu and GPU will detect that

I think you are very misinformed in how pc parts works

You played the game for not even 3hrs, you know nothing about ASA performance..

And you are clearly clueless about pc components and how they interact inside of games.

Modern cpu and GPUs are highly intelligent and will adapt within games when working properly
If he has played less than 3 hours then yes he's clueless. I think I'm over 1,000. you will have days where you play 12 hours straight without crashes. especially on the island. you also have days where you crash several times an hour. even if you disregard crashes it doesn't run great. you need an rtx4090 with frame generation to somewhat hit 60fps. even then it's not the smoothest.

the big engine update i really hope improves performance and crashing. i love ark ascended but it's not in a great state.

Pretty much this.

If it's not singleplayer and many mods you maybe hit solid 70 at average with peaks in 100's, but that's only on 50% of The Island map.

I'm recording average frames on my 4090 with 74 frames all across The Island, peaks around 120 in the deserted northern lands, and lows around the 50's in dense foliage areas.

The worst I've yet recorded was the
Jungle northeast of the Red Obelisk, around where the Parasaur note box sits, with 49 frames. It quickly stabilised around 55 after a couple of Dinos ended their mosh piting. But that's not what I'd call solid Full HD performance on a 4090, even if this game delivers some of the most breathtaking graphics I've ever seen.
I have a 4070 super, same 1440p with DLSS quality. It is not perfect vision but OK.
Single Player, I refrain from any mod other than automated Ark. I have been playing for only one month but Crush only once in the snow cave. I have another crush after installing Astereo - Wardrobe so I have to remove that mod. So I suspect the crush that people are complaining about is from mods (the game is not well prepared for mods).

I have 9900k and DDR4 memory. I disable any overclocking. Yes I am running 9900k at 3.5 Ghz but it is way more than enough. A simple rule in computer science is: overclocking leads to unstability. More CPU and GPU clocks always mean less stability. If you have crushes, the first suggestion is to turn off any form of overclocking.

So, in short, my suggestion is (1) don't overclock (2) don't install
I use a 1080 TI, haven't had the chance to upgrade it. I can run it but I need to turn off fog and clouds or flying makes me see a slide show. If I turn it off I SOMETIMES stutter while flying but it's a lot better. It runs and I can play it but the stuttering in fps and how much memory it uses are a bit over the top. I get it's early access but isn't this supposed to be a copy paste of evolved? Why make new code instead of improve on the old then imo.

Maybe they are using Ascended to test things out for Ark 2?
If your game is crashing on pc alot and you use gforce game filters press ALT + F3 shut them off. Fixed alot of crashing for me.

100% this.

Most likely OP is just trying to farm clowns for steam points.

Performance on even a 4090 is abysmal. Watching videos of the 5090 running Ark is pretty funny too, slightly better than 4090, often stuttering and hanging way more.

2.7hrs and claiming Ark runs perfectly. Man, everything okay inside your head bud? Bet you've only spawned on a beach, moved your mouse around a bit, then closed the game.

Also funny OP mentioned the game runs perfectly, but also states the game crashed twice. Really runs perfectly, huh?

How many hours played in ark. If you've only crashed twice in the last year, you either only played the game twice or you're lying.

You can go to his Steam profile and see his review. Steam reviews show the time of review and how many hours they had at time of review and their current playtime. Below is the review:

EARLY ACCESS REVIEW
Horrendous optimization.

You need min 32 GB ram and 4070-4090 card to run it semi smoothly.

If you have a monster PC, buy it. If you have older specs wait for the console version.
What exactly is the point in posting it's working for you?
I mean how should this help anyone or yourself (as you currently don't have problems with this software).

They enjoy talking nonsense and apparently telling people they're "clueless". I think that's called projecting.

To be fair, I have 6000+ hours in ASE and 600 hours in ASA, and I can regularly play hours long sessions in ASA without ever crashing. Then there are also those sessions where I crash 3 times in 15 minutes.
"**v59.29 - Minor version for Steam Clients - 02/05/2025**
- Fix for a crash when exiting a map or transferring.
@Steam"

This is false. I'm still getting crashes when transferring. It didn't use to happen at all. They're fixing one thing and breaking another.

It's just bait. Some people out there are a little nutty and just wanna stir things up. Everyone knows that the game runs like ♥♥♥♥♥, there are countless of benchmarks on Youtube, all having a negative opinion about both Evolved and Ascended. They're forcing framegen for god sakes, that should be a big tell.
