You need a 4070 and above to run it decently at high settings.
Graphic settings : a mix between average and high. Fog and cloud off by console command.
1 year ago, i played without DLSS and had between, most of time, 40 to 60 fps (in SP), but after some patchs i had to enable the DLSS to have those same 40-60 fps.
Edit : on "The Island".
It's a good time to upgrade your pc now as the 50 series has been announced.
if you can read where people have posted how to use framegen/upscaling then you can double your FPS. any 2000+ series card with 8gb VRAM, any decent CPU from the last 5 years and 32gb RAM and you'll be fine at 1080p.
i play on a mix of high/epic settings on a 2070 super, 3800x, 32gb RAM, SSD at 1080p and get 60fps everywhere on singleplayer with -preventhibernation and 40 or so mods
anything comparable should be fine, the bigger your monitor the more VRAM you need. you aren't going to play games like this anymore without framegen and upscaling, they're REQUIRED if you want things to run properly. people with 4080s and problems are just dumb and incapable of following instructions, something that is hard to do with an IQ under 92
I play at 1440 and my settings are a mix of Epic, High and shadow on low. I run 80+ fps on the Island, 50 to 60 on AB and Extinction 40 to 60.
I do remove the clouds when I am in game.
map: scorched earth btw
TRIPLE YOUR FRAME-RATE : EASY FPS OPTIMIZATION is his post name
If you cant run the game with the specs I mention above on your PC than you should stay off **** Hub and run a Virus scan because that's whats bogging your computer down and causing Ark not to run properly. Or you do not understand how to optimize a PC for gaming and I suggest you begin a course in self education it will change your experience moving forward because its not Ark that's your only issue and you will learn how to get way more out of your games.
I play on 1080p with my RTX 3080 with med/high settings without DLSS, I do not like the upscaling tech, I can see it is on.
It runs good enough to be playable, definitely not always 60fps but that is fine by me, hopefully the 5.5 engine update will improve stuff, if I don't already have a RTX 5080 by then.
But really, giving in to the AI stuff is not an option for me, I do not accept the lousy optimization and the ever pushing for more realistic looking graphics.
While in ASA terrain and stuff looks amazing, the dinos still look the same as ASE, textures being same resolution too.
ASA and UE5 are the reason for the choppy performance, and it definitely is GPU Bound, sadly.
you're stupid for not using upscaling and frame gen. you can't see it if you set it up right anymore, FSR3 fixed that COMPLETELY and i cap at 30 becaues my monitor is only 60hz, the lower your cap the more likely you get ghosting and there is ZERO ghosting or artifacting for me. you folks need to stop acting like you know what you're doing when you don't, if your experience sucks then it's literally because you don't knwo waht you're doing, you either believe that or you don't and keep doing what got you here asking questions i guess
you need to also stop talking about optimization, you most likely wouldn't know what optimization was if someone shoved it down your throat. games today are hitting the problem where frames can't be processed fast enough to keep up with the graphical fidelity, there is no hardware solution which is why nvidia's hardware frame gen has been replaced BY EVERYONE with amd's software-based FSR3 framegen/upscaling. the best combo is nvidia's DLSS for upscaling and FSR3 for frame gen since it work which is what ark has. it is not on by default and it won't even activate without an fps limit/vsync/upscaling
it's not lazy tech to cover up poor optimization, it's tech REQUIRED to get the most out of games until we make the next big leap forward and cards can process MUCH faster. there are even some games like skyrim that can't physically have framed rendered fast enough to keep pace with the 5000 mod lists with tons of graphical improvements and puredark's FSR3 framegen mod makes that a possibility, it's a PHYSICAL limitation
people who think they can the difference in a "real" frame and a generated frame are the same people who pair an 8gb card with a 4k monitor. they're just idiots. FSR3 frame gen is one of the few things you'll EVER encounter in life that are too good to be true, but really is that good. FSR2.x had ghosting, FSR3 doesn't have ghosting if you cap at 30 or higher and there's no way you're unable to do that with a 2000 RTX or newer 8gb card.
