Aberration - Bob's explorer notes not working.

I have the bob's tall tales dlc, it has worked on other maps except Aberration. When I find a note it says Bob's tall tales dlc required. I verified cloud sync, updates, and file integrity. Is there a fix for this?

some people said launching the game directly from steam solved it, don't use a desktop shortcut.
