Game keeps crashing on exiting after last update

Since the last update, the game keeps crashing, when I exit. I can start the game again with no issue, and my progress has been saved, but it worries me anyways.

There also seems to be an issue with the embryo incubater. I can but an embryo in the machine, and it is being matured, but after a while it stops showing as being in a slot.

lucky. mine crashes every 5 minutes and is unplayable.

I guess it has something to do with Nvidia, given the Nvidia game overlay pops up every time the crash happens.

Went to post the same thing. Its only when I'm trying to go to the main menu. Will check back if to see if anyone has a solution. Its kinda frustrating. It even crashed in the intro screen but that only happened twice. This ones happening 90% of the time I go back to the main menu

Reddit would be full of it already if It would be a global thing. It's also only trying to go to main menu for me as well. It's a major bummer, specially because the game doesn't have qqq exit.

Let's find relations. Nvidia 4090 here. They shat out an update today as well. So did Logitech. I've also installed a bunch of new mods enabling dino spawns for all maps. Nothing else in the top of my head right now.

It don't think it's a coincidence because virtually every time SW and Nvidia double douche release their patches on a Friday/Saturday, I have my weekend ruined.

Nvidia driver updates are a lottery these days, 4090 system can not play this game with the latest update on the latest drivers, rolling back 2 driver versions has resolved this. Sadly you should be saving the installer for each driver version because of things like this, do not 1 click update your drivers.

Edit: make sure you use DDU for a full uninstall of graphics drivers when downgrading or reinstalling drivers when having crashing issues.
This will solve your problem, you are welcome, I am sorry that both Nvidia and Wildcard put you in that situation.

Edit for clarity: I only have Official DLC, I do not use any mods on my Nvidia 4090 system because it is too frequently unstable after updates.

Another Edit (seriously?): Sometime people in a single/multiple region(s) have download issues, clearing download cache and temporarily changing your download region may help, it is suggested to verify game files after.


When having issues include the following;
-Windows (10/11) Version (home/pro/enterprise) Servicepack: (22h/23h/24h)(1\2\3)
-Graphics Driver and Chipset Driver versions;
-Download region; found in steam settings would be your local download hub is also important information.

Appearantly I was wrong. There is an actual quick exit.

Just open the console, type "exit" without quotes. Make sure to save before. I'm probably going to keep it that way even beyond a fix.

There's a "DoExit" and an "AdminExit" as well. The first seems to be specific for servers, and the second? Exclusive to Admins?

It's doing the exact same thing with crashing on the main menu with both my computers. One I use an rx 7800xt and the other one is an integrated 780M(Lowwwww settings). Both using the amd adrenlin software so I might have to think about seeing if rolling it back might help

If you are on adrenaline 25.5.1 you are on a Pre-release version and should go back a version. This version is not marked as globally stable, when tested FPS drops and fluctuates like mad *I should state it only drops crazy in ARK that I know of.. Always Use DDU (display driver uninstaller) when downgrading graphics drivers or having driver issues for a full uninstall.

Edit: I seem to wrongly operate under the assumption that people know "Steam cloud data" for this game is problematic for a lot of people... I should clarify that you should have Steam Cloud Data DISABLED for ARK or you will run into a lot of issues, try disabling this and keep it disabled forever.

Yeah. Something is definitively borked with the UI. Because I have all sorts of audio latency and stutter when joining the game. Appearantly Nividias filters were f'ed up as well, enabling dynamic contrast for no reason. And Steam's game overlay is minimising windows for no reason. Almost feels like the bug I'd get in the devkit.

I have no idea what they did, but did f'ed it up for sure. I mean, I can play beyond join and exit, but do companies even test their ♥♥♥♥ nowadays before release?

I rolled back the driver with DDU and recently tried turning off steam cloud. So far no progress :(

I might have to try uninstalling and reinstalling tomorrow. I just hate it cause I have slow ass internet and that takes forever.

Crashing on exit here too. RTX5080 with latest drivers. Game is usually rock solid for me after I found that it was memory timings for me that was causing the regular crashing.

4080 FE here...had 3/4 crashes upon exit ystrday, always save before exiting tho and so far saves are good.

After the crash you will be fronted with a bug report. Make sure to send it every!...single!...time!...and if it's just to ruin their monday when they get back to work.
