Feeding Gacha Claus

Is anyone else having a difficult time accessing Gacha Claus' inventory. I cannot feed it mistletoe or coal?

i never could access its inventory, i just droped at his feet one coal and that other thing with it picked up

No inventory. Drop up to 5 coal OR 1 mistletoe in front of GC to feed them, then wait for crystal drop.

You can also tame a Jerboa Elf and get unlimited coal and mistletoe and make/unlock what you want in the smithy.

Not sure. I got bored of waiting for GC to poop crystals, and went the jerboa elf route, due to not seeing any CG drops that were not craftable (Christmas items/skins) or unlockable (emotes) in the smithy.
