200 GB needed for a 5gb update

so I installed ark a few days ago, and now it says it needs 192 GB for an update, I check the update it seems to only be 5gb, why is it asking me to free up an extra 192 gb for a 5,8gb update

Cause it needs to go through all the existing files and update them. It can probably be done better, but you know who we're dealing with here.

been this way for years. I always have a single ssd of 1tb just for ark.

The game also crashes infrequently when you transfer beds. Straight ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

Yeah....had to finally just disable updates for this game, husband wasn't happy about going over our download limit for the month and having to pay extra, 200 GB for that game is just effing ridiculous. To say nothing of the dlc that you kinda gotta have because The Island gets boring pretty fast.
