Back to redownloading the entire game EVERY patch
Yay, I'm so excited to have to redownload the entire game of 183 gigs every time. It just SAYS it's patching, but it's super cool to be literally redownloading it slowly and entirely. Thanks wildcard, you're definitely the best game dev ever and not literal human feces.

They took 4 extra days . Its so far past its origional release date. I get the problem where its looks lke its frozen and if you restart your pc it will start all over.Did you ever play Trove? It was a pay to win game. They where just like this. The players started demanding they Trove team be fired and new people hired. It acctually happened and they where sold as well. Game worked great after that.

It's actually even cooler because once I've redownloaded the entire game, it also has to "verify" the patch be redownloading the ENTIRE thing again at the exact same pace. So every time the geniuses at wildcard release a patch, I have to redownload the whole game 3 times. At this point, any time there's a patch, I just need to uninstall the game and reinstall it apparently. The morons broke patching.

It's because the dummies packed all game data in single 180 gigs+ packed file :D

I was wondering why it went from 100% at 4.49 gigs to all of a sudden 183. Would be neat to know that before I decide to click update.

its bad because i either have to delete and redownload other games just for an update. or have a drive dedicated just for ark. these people should be stripped of this game. if any other game had the breeding system this game has. id be on my way

Currently using a 2tb nvme ssd with nearly 1tb still free on it, and have 2 gig internet. You're lying and an idiot. Even with better internet and a better hard drive (which i guarantee you don't have), you aren't downloading 180 gigs in "literally 2 minutes." Whatever pre-built mediocre pc your mom and dad bought you to play fortnite doesn't compare to the machines in this conversation. Sit down kid, the adults are talking.

Did you clear the download cache already?

Thank you for the idea but yeah I tried that. I just uninstall the game fully and reinstall now. It takes the same amount of time as "patching" but it doesn't get stuck in an infinite download/patch/install/verify/repeat loop that way.
Oh well, classic wildcard.

Not true, on ssd it takes 20-30 minutes, however on an NVMe it does just take 2 minutes, 3 all in.

but it's also CPU power, so having ssd/nvme and weak cpu still takes hours like they do.

my 1tb SSD and 300mb net takes a few mins. i've also never once redownloaded the game and suspect young people jsut don't have the IQ to notice they're DLing 20gb or whatever and PATCHING the whole game. it's steam's system too, it was changed to their standards but it works fine

may be their servers causing issues too but i always get full speed and never have issues. a lot of "pc gamers" just don't know wtf they're doing on their PC and have antivirus, windows defender or win11 with onedrive which takes over more than UAC folders nowadays. a lot of you didn't get the memo 10+ years ago and still install games in program files or on your desktop or ANY of the UAC places windows will interefere with your game, it should be in the root of a drive to avoid windows "filtering out unsafe files", it hates exes

they make consoles for people who aren't sharp enough for PCs

You're either lying or mistaken. My internet is 6x your speed, if you've only got 300mbps connection. Also, my drive is a 2tb nvme.

Every patch "DOWNLOADS" (cause it says the word "downloading") and then it "patches," then it "installs," then it "verifies." If I'm lucky, it stops there. If I'm unlucky, as stated previously, it goes into a download/patch/install/verify/repeat loop.

My hard drive is a dedicated drive just for games and currently have only got ASA installed on it, in the root of the drive.

Stop blowing wildcard and trying to gaslight people who are experiencing this issue. If you aren't YET, then lucky you. Congrats. Plenty of us are having this issue. Google it instead of being obtuse and obnoxious.

it says DOWNLOAD on the left and PATCHING on the right, it doesn't download the full game each time unless it's weird bug i've never seen once, never seen proof of, etc

every time some crybaby posts his SS on here you can clearly see it's not DLing the whole game every time

every game forum is full of you folks who can't read cursive, learned common core fake math and is overly emotional (low T). you wanna be mad, you don't want help, you wanna be a victim of the evil game company. game isn't bad, it's not the best but technically it's fine. if you set things up right you can get it working and they do a piss poor job of explaining how FSR3 works since you can't just turn it on with a setting

you sound like a redditor too, how many genders you guys up to these days? tree fiddy?

I have never redownloaded the entire game during patches, the largest I seen was maybe little over 60gb with dlc release, you are definitely reading Steam wrong.
Steam shows you 2 things, Download Size and Patching Size, right next to each other.
The game downloads the changed files (the patch download size) and then updates them into the whole game (patching size), as all files are inside a big archive, so it goes through it all and replaces only the changed files.
If having a fast nvme ssd and fast internet, both download and patching will happen at the same time, making the entire process take 5-10 minutes, with maybe max of 30 minutes on the larger patches.
