did you then start the game/restart the game?
if nothing is fixed then your storage speed must be very poor or some other issue for the textures to not be loading
Dude please dont add registry entries from random guys on the internet if you DONT KNOW what you do and what those entries do. It CAN cause harm and/or other problems.
On the other hand, if you hit the M key twice, you get a pretty clear opaque map.
Do note that both these feature only display what territory you've actually explored. If you only travel a day or two in any direction, that's all of the map you'll see.
