****Black screen every time i join a server *HELP*

Every time i join a server i get a complete black screen, I don't get a create a character screen, spawn screen, nothing. Escape doesn't work, mouse doesn't work, only force exit through the command console works, in which it closes the game.

I had similar problems in the past, and found to empty the steam caches helps for me. You can just give it a try ... (If I do not use the correct translation please forgive me, it is shown in German language for me).

Open within the Steam MAIN menu the settings/options

Then click on the left side on "In game" and look for a button at the "Webbrowser cache", click on remove or empty or however it is called for you

Next click on the left side on "Downloads", scroll down until you see "Download cache", click on empty/remove

Steam then will close and restart, try if you can play with less freezes afterwards.

If you're using OEM Drivers provided by the Computer Manufacturer, go to nVidia's Web Site (probably be best for YOUR country) and download their Game Ready Drivers. Remove the OEM Drivers and install the nVidia drivers you downloaded from their site.

I always recommend this because OEM drivers are not updated as frequently. I have an Alienware x17 laptop. I had the NEWEST drivers officially available from Dell. I removed them and installed the newest drivers from nVidia's Site and discovered they were over 6 months newer and multiple MAJOR revisions newer. nVidia generally releases updates every 2 months or so... The switch suddenly allowed several graphically intensive games, including ASE and ASA, to work and remain stable.
