Gene Scanner range?

Hello there,

Does the scanner have a range?

My base is in the middle of the island and a lot of dinosaurs can't be found.

Rex, Turtles, Megalodon, Basilos and many more.

I am lvl 105 and do a wipe to be sure but it doesn't help.

I just had this on abb, seen a 120 basilisk, eyeballed the general area on map, went to base to grab some eggs and headed back. No sign of it visually so tried the scanner, nothing. moved around the area a bit, still nothing. Went to portal (nearly always spawn there), three of them tearing the place apart.
Could be a single player thing, where it only checks currently active chunks (if that's the right term), inactive chunks going into hibernation.

not just a sp thing in mp it just refuses to work at all with some creatures
