A 1 tb external ssd costs less than 100 euro and will save you a ton of frustration with each update. I really recommend this as each new ASA map will add space requirements of ASA. Maybe you could put it on your X-mas wishlist ;)
I play ASA off of a 500GB SSD that is dedicated to only it. It shouldn't be space requirements.
Mild inconvenience at best. I'm able to delete the game and download in no time. I just didn't know if it was something I could fix on my end or if it's just random Ark being Ark. Thanks for the suggestions, all.
If you have multiple drives Steam will try to use the biggest one/one that has the most free space as the download cache instead of the one the game is installed on and if the bigger one is slower then that is why this is happening.
If your 500GB that the game is installed on is definitely the one being used as a download cache then it's because that drive has a low read/right speed. If it's connected externally it will have even slower speeds.
and your games on D:/ 1tb free space
steam could be trying to patch on the C:/ and using it as a cache drive
make sure steam is installed on the same drive as ark. or try reinstalling steam
steam is always the culperate is this situation
Not true. It literally stops at 1% and does not move forward. It does not matter where Steam is saved. It does not matter if you wait . it does not matter how many times you stop the process and restart it. It is simply faster to pause the download, restart the pc because Steam will crash when you close it and when you restart the download will check as "failed" then you can delete the game and reinstall. Delete > Reinstall takes 30mins. Trying to get it to work as intended WILL NOT work.
Nope. 110% not space issue. Not a connection issue. Not a location issue. Not a waiting issue. It is entirely Steam issue. If you pause the download and close steam it will crash and on restarting PC it will say "failed" thenyou can delete the game and reinstall faster.
