Question about traits
So, the new gene traits, I have a few questions on how they work.

1) If a shoulder pet has a trait such as, warm, or protective, do those traits apply to when it is riding on the player's shoulder? Or is it ONLY for ridden dinos?

2) If you stack the same trait multiple times do you get the full numerical benefits of each? As an example, a Vampire 3 returns 5% of damage done back as healing. If I put that trait on an animal twice, would they get 10% health drain?

3) Do animals that already reduce the weight of resources benefit from bearing trait? Does an ankylosaur with mineral bearing further reduce the weight of metal?

It would be great to know this stuff before I go obsessively trait hunting.

This trait can be replaced on adult creatures.

I haven't tried it, but the text would suggest that you add it to a baby (along with whatever else), raise the baby, saddle up and grind out xp on said now grown baby, then when your ready, replace that trait with another.
The concern here is there is no replace option with the gene scanner, just two seperate operations of extract and inject. Does the game track creatures that have had fast learner extracted to allow a slot to be injected with whatever else? Perhaps a buff appears on the creature with a timer allowing traits to be placed in an adult.

For the xp I'd just hatch a bunch of eggs and slaughter the babies /shrug
So, you inject the desired replacement trait and it asks if you want to destroy the existing fast learner trait. Once you confirm, the fast learner is destroyed and replaced with the injected trait.

Dont remove fast learner, it wont work.

Came here now to say just that lol.
Found a Rex baby with fast learner 2, once it had matured I thought I'd try injecting first expecting an invalid target message but nope, overwrites it.

Hi everyone, i need your help... i didn't own BTT, i play the system of genes/traits with the free mod "better traits", i found a difference between the description in the "ark.wiki.gg" and the description i see in game for "Tenacious" and "Angry" (i repeat, with the free mod).

For "Tenacious":
on the WIKI it's written "...damage taken is reduced by 12,5%..."
INGAME it's written "...damage taken is reduced by 0.0-12,5%..."

For "Angry":
on the WIKI it's written "deal an additional +1,25% outgoing damage..."
INGAME it's written "deal an additional 00-12,5% outgoing damage..."

So, i don't know if there are mistakes on the wiki or if it's the mod dev of the free mod "better traits" who change at his taste from the official system of genes/traits?

If you have BTT, can you tell me what is the description you have INGAME from "Tenacious" and "Angry", please?

When you go to add the new trait as if you were adding it to a baby. There is a confirmation box and the fast learner trait is destroyed.

For those interested by the genes and traits, i gave you "TiiaAurora" sooner in this thread, and, as a good complement, today, a French Youtuber "TheBaxShow" have released a detailled video of the effects and made tests with ALL the traits, and, as it's in French, you can go in the "settings", "subtitles" and "automatically translated" and choose your language to see/listen the video. 😉
