Abberation and Ragnarok may spark my interest once more
Then You have a portion of the player base acting poor. Like come on you can fork over $30. It's a whole new game damn near. People saying it's not obviously haven't made the purchase to see. The Changes to the Map, plus the 100+ quality to life changes are worth it.
Everyones acting like Wildcard is charging 59.99 for it. People just need to stop being cheap and update their rigs.
Their rig can't handle the new game
Nostalgia
They have too much time invested in ASE to quit and play ASA. Imagine thousands of hours taming and breeding the perfect dinos, hoarding the artifacts and completing all the maps... I can see why people wouldn't want to give it up.
I made the switch to ASA for the QOL and the graphics. I dont regret it. The paid mods are completely optional and not required. I only bought bobs tall tales so far and thats only because the wife wanted to make a western town in SE.
When ASE launched it ran like complete crap too.
This dude, is suffering from brainrot.
Generalizing and making sure he'll go down as the biggest laughing stock on Steam in the process.
If you don't know what optimization means, i suggest you put a fork in it and move along little guy.
Another clueless gnat.
Paid mods are not optional and if you play on a specific server and that server host suddenly decides that they want to start using premium mods, you'll either have to pay up or find another server that doesn't use premium mods.
The fact that people don't make the swap from ASE to ASA is because ASE is a superior game in every single way except the graphical updates. The majority of 'new features' are stuff they ripped from old ASE mods.
The main reason is because ASA is insanely unoptimized and doesn't run well on most 40 series cards.
I'm on a 40 series card myself and the game runs like crap with massive FPS drops and spikes in certain areas of The Island.
This may or may not be down to incompetence or the UE5 engine itself, but in most cases it's due to the developers not knowing how to optimize their code, and Wildcard's track record shows that it's incompetence.
So before you shills go off on people telling them it's their rigs, you may want to consider that we may even have better rigs than you have.
Go educate yourself.
In personal opinion, the only advantage to ASE currently is content. Once they get all the maps in ASA which will probably be next year hopefully, ASA will be the superior game in every way.
The Unreal Engine 5.4 upgrade that is due next month should help with performance. I am very interested to see what it really does for the game.
The QoL changes argument is a completely moot argument since they were as i said taken from ASE mods in the first place. ASE still have the same QoL features through mods.
ASE is also more optmized, albeit it took them years to finally optimize it more than it was during early access.
What the UE5.4 update does for the game depends on the devs and how competent they are. So far, their track record shows that they're not really that competent, but we'll see what happens. I'm certainly not holding my breath.
I have well over 6000hrs on ASE split between the console versions and Steam and i still prefer it to ASA, because ASA runs like dog poo on new hardware.
A computer that is able to perform the game on a rational (high modern standard) level doesn't exist, so this argument falls short already. Nostalgia visuals usually suck in comparison to ugrades, but since ASA is nothing more than a "minor" visual upgrade, this argument has low weight. I can follow nr. 3 though, specially because ASA hasn't even imported all of ASE's content...the mods quantity is also underperforming.
Fix the performance to high end standards of at least 120fps and I'm in pronto.
Paid mods are a peeve of mine, but worse is the single creature official DLC. Unlike premium mods, this means you will see this creature on official, un-modded servers and maps and not have access to it yourself. The same goes for the "Tall Tales" DLC. The reverse issue for people who don't play officials, is just that you will see wild creatures that you aren't permitted to tame and use, on maps you get to play on for free.
I swear I remember a time Wildcard said we would be paying for the Maps and not the creatures in them, around the time free maps started adding creatures from DLC maps. I'm either misremembering or that changed, to now where we pay for the creature (Pyromane) and get the map (The Center) for free. Now I have it written down, maybe I'm just overreacting and it doesn't matter in the end what we pay for and what we get for free, I don't know.
I still love playing this game, at least until I hear of another addicting, fun survival-building (and maybe more RPGish) game with dinosaurs in it!
