The issue is Ark: Survival Ascended requires a quite powerful computer and a decent understanding and comprehension of how your computer's hardware functions and its limitations.
The vast majority of folks experiencing issues are rather limited in their computer's raw power, and despite what they may cry and complain about, they haven't the slightest grasp on how computer gaming works or their hardware limitations.
As long as you know your PC's hardware and how to properly setup a video game that gives the user an immense amount of options to customize your desired visual quality, you'll be all set and the game will run amazingly well. Just go in understanding your limitations and be prepared to disable and turn down quite a few graphical options to better suit your computer's limitations.
Now, if you go in all high and mighty thinkin' your $800 pre-built PC from Best Buy or MicroCenter should be able to handle everything at max settings, you're in for a rude awakening. Ark: Survival Ascended utilizes a great deal of new technology and allows the user an immense amount of freedom to program said settings.
Best of luck to you! I would highly recommend not listening to a substantial amount of reviews. Most players haven't the faintest clue how their PC functions or what limitations they may have. Not understanding that Ark: Survival Ascended doesn't just "work" out of the box, and they allow the user to dictate their gaming experience.
That's not true even the servers go down globally and constantly, and so lagged only with 30 players, even those who were playing in single player had their game broken by the latest updates.
The only good optimization we can have is up to Unreal Engine 5.4
Unfortunately, it's scheduled for some time in "summer" (maybe august)
This reads like AI...
I agree to others that it is very much depending on the hardware if the system crashes or not. I definitely recommend playing on an SSD with at least 2 terabyte. However, please keep in mind that the SSD alone is not a guarantee for non-crashing.
Regarding the optimization ... I think that optimization will never be finished. ASA has so much content that there will always be hickups. Read the patchnotes to get an impression of what the devs do in that direction. You are the only one who can decide if it is "well optimized" enough for you.
Sorry but most of this is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ , NO OTHER GAME I OWN requires me to go in and undervoltage my cpu , or gpu , or disable gpu settings or add lines of code to it's ini file or tweak nvidia settings or setting in my display settings for it to be reuired to make the game work properly.
I literally haven't had to do any of this since the days of KALI.net when we had to tweak dhcp /tcp settings to play diablo1 or warcraft2 lol. Yes I've been gaming that long..
This game out of the box has been the absolute biggest headache since New World was bricking video cards a couple of yrs ago.
Yes it does require a somewhat beefy rig to play , and that is understandable since games have come a long way in the last 2-3 yrs and video cards have made huge strides to make that possible BUT to say people need a deep understanding is a far stretch, NO ONE should have to do the things we do just to play the dam game.
argue all you want , but this game should not require a 2 yr degree in hardware engineering to make it work.
I don't know you're rig's spec's BUT if you're over the min requirements and you loved ase , you're gonna love this one, if you're one of the lucky ones like me who it runs for fine and looks great on mid settings with 60 fps , you'll be fine.
you get a 2 hour window to refund , I say grab it , try it and if it doesn't grab you or it starts crashing and you don't feel good making some settings adjustments then refund it , no harm , no foul.
YMMW there but at least you gave it a shot.
That sucks , sorry to hear that. The new baby imprint system is what pushed it over the top for me lol , baby brontos are so friggin cute lol
