scorched earth has a major issue
What is the first thing that gets a player to put down the game and never pick it up again? A BS mechanic that is extremely frustrating to manage. I am referring to SUPER HEAT. yes, it's scorched earth. It is supposed to be hot. but how is a new spawn going to be doing anything about it when the recommended easy spots have no water? Upon respawning, they already have no thirst as super heat evaporates that bar nearly instantly and are taking health damage long before they can even move. Then they have roughly 20 seconds to get their stuff and find a safe place to exist till the sun goes down. I have just spent the last hour trying to do that. Dying repeatedly. I get it's a mechanic you want on scorched earth, but the fact it gives you very little time to respawn and get anywhere remotely safe from the heat is a very big issue.

on top of that, most buildings do not provide proper protection from the heat; in fact, it makes it worse. Thatch is the early game building does nothing to stop super heat, wood is next makes it MUCH MUCH Worse, stone is next no change there as well adobe comes next but to build it requires time as you need A LOT of sand and cactus sap just to get a little bit of clay which you need a lot of if you want a small 1x1 then and only then is super heat not as big a deal but there lies the issue. Time. players won't have time to even attempt this without bum rushing it to a water source the only thing that negates heat easily and even then most water sources have hostile dinos there which means the player not only has to juggle a heat mechanic that can kill quick but also do so with dinos that can kill just as quickly. not to mention, adobe isn't early in the tech tree. The player has to live long enough to earn enough levels and points to get the structures required to make it, which would, at minimum, be the foundation to place the grindstone. the grindstone. then adobe foundation adobe walls adobe roof and adobe doors.

In one hour, I'm not even close to getting Adobe, and I have died several times from heat. I'm surprised people haven't mentioned how unplayable scorched earth is in the early game because there is nowhere to hide long enough to get resources. not to mention the quantities you need just to be able to build a 1x1. then and only then can you start carving out a living on scorched earth without just sitting in a river/pond/lake for the night to fall and then going out to get resources.

TLDR - superheat is overly aggressive and needs fine-tuning

weather is probably bugged but it's 100% possible to deal with it. there are cool areas down near water, anywhere up high = hot though. there SEEMS to be a new mechanic where you're slightly cooler in the shade, i've tested it over and over the best i could and lots of times, hiding in the shadow of a rock would keep me from dying. the constant weather has to be a bug though, ASE SE had that bug for a while too but it was fixed after a week i think

i will need to test this out but the fact still stands that the easy spawns are not close to water and upon respawning super heat starts killing you before you start moving.

the time it took you to write this out you could have just figured out how to deal with the heat.
