ARK: Survival Ascended, considering buying.

1. I've played Ark: Survival Evolved and absolutely loved it, is Ascended any better than Evolved other than it's graphics being better? What has been improved other than that?

2. Can you disable the blood effects like in Ark: Survival Evolved? The violence in Evolved was too overpowering for my taste so I like to disable the blood.

3. Does this game force PVP or can I play alone or with friends/family in my own world without randoms coming into my world and stuffing up my save with PVP? I'm more of a PVE player.

4. Are there finisher moves that dinosaurs do to players if you are close to dying or any kill moves that happen in general? If so, is there a way to disable that? Also, are there kill moves that players do to dinosaurs? If so, if there is a way to disable it, that would be much appreciated, thanks.

5. How is the game performance? I've read a few reviews and others say it runs poorly.

6. Is there a Ark: Survival Ascended workshop where I can mod the game?

7. Out of a 1-10, how violent is Ascended and how good or bad is the game in general?

8. Finally, is there any information, warnings, or tips I must know about the game before I buy Ascended?

I've been eyeing ARK: Survival Ascended for quite a long time now whether I should buy it or not, wishing it, removing it from my wishlist then adding it to my wishlist again lol. I would love to play this game but I don't know what to do or what to think...

1. Some QOL improvements. Mostly UE4 ---> UE5 upgrade. Poorly optimized.
2. No idea cause its not something that bothers me. Do an Ai search.
3. PvE servers are available, or you can spend alot of cash and rent yer own nitrado server.
4. No kill moves, same violence as ASE.
5. Terrible, unless you own a very significant system it runs terrible, Minimum specs are an
outright lie.
6. Curseforge built into the game, terrible option compared to Steam workshop, the interface
is made for consoles.
7. Its the same violence as ASE.... thats very subjective.
8. If yer on the fence, stay with ASE, Ascended is overpriced for what you get right
now. (Very few maps released, so the content is getting stale, with lots of delays)


Dunno you seem to know about the violence in ASE, since ASA is mostly a Graphical upgrade with a few QOL changes then you kind of answered most of yer questions.

1. There are tons of QOL changes that make life so much better, but apart from that and graphics the game is fundamentally the same.

2. I believe you can disable blood effects.

3. PVP is not forced.

4. No finisher moves.

5. Performance can be iffy but if you have a decent pc then it should run fine at medium-high graphics.

6. Modding is so easy in Ascended, you click the mod tab in-game and install the mod, then activate it. That's it.

7. 4 on violence. For me the game is good but very buggy at times.

8. Can't think of anything specific.

Would go to the store page and find the Roadmap and base yer purchase off of the content proposed, knowing that WC/Snail are terrible about deadlines and tend to miss them almost always. For me if i had my choice i would have waited till Oct. 2024. But i have been an ARK junky for a very long time so i bought ASA 20 mins after release.

I own both and I have gone back to ASE. ASE is more stable and with the mods available more fun. I have had dinos fall through the map on Scorched Earth and although they said they fixed the Thylacoleo they broke it in a different way so it is still basically unusable.

The mod interface is cumbersome and confusing, at least to me. The unreal engine 5 is nice and the weather effects are well done, as well as the terrain. Building is better in ASA.
You can always checkout youtube videos and see from that if you think it is worth the $40.00.

i regret buying this game and if i could i would give you the 1 i own. dont bother with officials. nowhere to build even a tiny base which btw will take you forever to build as you fight the games bosses called lag and crash. you will spend more time in game waiting for lag to end then the times between the lag. i wish i was joking. and its not rare. its very very very (understatement of a lifetime) very constant like a min of lag then 30 secs to do something then another min of lag and thats not even the tip of the iceberg of problems this game suffers from on this rapidly sinking titanic. the company is bankrupt so who even knows how long they will continue to keep servers going. i tried to return to the game the other day and spent hours covering the entire island map and i couldnt even build a 1 foundation base anywhere to live

edit to say: i would put a large amount of money on a bet saying this studio will be dead and bankrupt before it gets 1/2 the maps out.
