Your opinion please...
I am old gamer that has the previous Ark version. I don't have any Steam friends playing this as of now. Should I get this knowing I may play alone? Is it worth it?

Thanks,

If you are able to enjoy this game solo, then it is worth it.

While you might not have any friends currently playing this, there are many thriving communities that play on Unofficial Servers.

I've got 3000 hours in ark on singleplayer and wouldn't have it any other way. the pvp in ark is awful, it's aimed at people who have consoles and play fortnite or rust and it's zero time commitment and you raid each other when you go to sleep and then cry when you get raided.

i've got a computer from 2019 that runs teh game on mostly high settings (medium viewing distance and medium general shadows (high shadows runs fine but doesn't look right to me)) and i personally don't have any issues other than when they update the devkit and some mods need to be re-cooked so you may have a couple days where you play without a mod or just wait for it to be updated. looks good, runs good, having fun with it

I just realized it wants 32 GB of video memory and I have only 16 GB. Maybe I better not get it. I only meet minimum requirements.

Depends on the other specs. With only 8GB VRAM it could be a issue even on playing a server because the game will put a little bit in shared GPU memory.
Playing singleplayer mode easily eats 16-17 GB RAM. If everything else only meets minimum requirements, don't get the game.

Your CPU is fine, I have the 10600k.
But 16 GB RAM is a issue (but can easily be fixed without spending too much money) and 3060 Ti is the biggest issue here, depending on what settings you wanna play. I think 1080p 60 FPS low-medium settings works but the game doesn't look great on this settings. Maybe in the future. If the game and engine gets optimized...

You have faster VRAM. Amount should be the same, except if he has a 3060 Ti with 8 GB VRAM (if I remember correctly there should be no 8GB VRAM 3060 Ti but I forgot). That will be a huge issue with only 16 GB RAM.

But in this case the RAM is a smaller issue, because he has a 3060 Ti which don't perform well in the current game state

Owning both myself I can't recommend it in good conscience. To date I have about 2000 hours on ASE between here and Gamepass. I still play daily. According to steam I have about 100 hours on ASA, but I'd argue half of that is looking at mods. It's about as rough now as ASE was in the very beginning, my average play is 30 min before a crash and I have to use commands to turn off clouds and fog to get any kind of framerate... out of my $3200 2023 MSI gaming PC... It runs STAR CITIZEN, a notoriously taxing game PERFECTLY. (I do NOT play star citizen, no one needs to talk smack) Also SCUM runs clean as a cutscene, again notoriously hard on GPU. However when I turn on ARK my pc becomes a potato and sounds like a jet fighter taking off. I own it, I look here in the forum to see if it improves... It doesn't, so I go back to ASE. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks,
Old? I am 68 and play with friends I met in game. you will inevitably meet some yourself online, in game, it is the way it is. However search the discussions, I saw the other day a server group specifically asking for older users to join, they seemed an easy group with a laid back approach.
