Are Bobs Tall Tales Explorer notes on SE without getting the DLC ??

Anyone know if you have to buy the DLC for the bobs explorer notes to show up. ?
they have linked max level to them and it will be pretty scummy if i have to pay 24 quid just to max out my char.. i am planning on taking it through all the maps.

just found a Note from the DLC and you cant collect it without buying :(

They are using fear of missing out sale tactics.. You get prompts to use the shovel you don't have on your crop plots for better yields.. And treasure maps you can't use as well.

scorched earth was already bare bones when it released first time round. now you want me to pay for the privilege of getting extra levels.

You can do absolutely nothing at all with any of the DLC stuff if you don't have it. Despite it nagging you *everywhere* with drops, engrams, notes, comments on crop plots (that replaced the actually useful greenhouse stat).... It's annoying and scummy as hell.

Add to that that the DLC broke a whole bunch of dinos so they can no longer go on rafts, regardless of whether you wanted/bought/cared about the DLC or not...
