Does Tapejara outrun a wyvern?

I've never gotten a wyvern egg so I tamed a tapejara since its probably the fastest flyer I can get on scorched earth. I am sad to see I cannot put levels into its speed though :< now I'm scared it might die trying to get the egg cus it doesnt feel very fast to ride

It doesn't. The wyverns are pretty stupid, though, and will fly into walls rather than around them, so you can lose them relatively easily. Try getting them stuck on something and fly out of the trench + have sleeping bags near. If you die you can simply retrieve your inventory with the egg in it, without triggering the wyverns' aggro again. Kinda depends on whether you play single player, pve or pvp and with or without mods, but you could bring a spare tame and use that to fly back home with your stuff.

Careful of the breath attacks though (they all damage the player while mounted, fire HURTS), and don't fly over lava after stealing the egg. If you die over lava, your bag lands in the lava stream. (: I found this out the hard way. Good luck!

Nop it does not however i find that the aggression lvl of the wyverns are not as acute on ASA has we experienced on ASE (so far) Tip locate a nest with an egg, any egg, make a base above with a bed and a storage in .. Hopefully you can grab an egg, run to the mini hut you created, enter and stick the egg in box before you die. Spawn in after on the bed. The tapi will probably die, so have another flyer ready to go retrieve the egg. BE WARNED when you touch that egg IT MAY cause the Wyverns to aggro again so be prepared to run out to the deesrt or the mountains or fly past dinos on the ground to draw aggro. The wyverns have a small aggro range. NORMALLY

Tapejaras are pretty slow and don't have a lot of stamina.
Wyverns are fast as ♥♥♥♥

Phoenix is also good against wyverns but that might be a chicken before the egg scenario

The real OG way to do it simple take the egg and lose agro on one of the many moths around the wyvern trench

Without flyer speed levelling I prefer the method of taming a bunch of low level flyers and hoping the pursuing Wyverns agro on them rather than you. Though that didn't work for me and the five Argies I took in there. Luckily, only the one I was flying died (along with me), so I just returned, grabbed the egg from my death bag, and flew home on one of the four surviving Argies.

One good thing about ASA over ASE is that there appears to be a lot more eggs spawning.

If you create an army of disposable dino fliers you can set them to aggro and follow, then fly, grab the egg on the passive dino and fly out. Hopefully your army will have stolen aggro away from you.

if you use a ovi raptor it will pick it up with out any wyverns freaking out :P
