no metal in single player

i've checked the coordinates found here https://ark-unity.com/ark-survival-ascended/maps/scorched-earth/ and breaking every rock i can see at those areas and no metal whatsoever. i know the metal rocks are supposed to look slightly different, but could someone please show me a screenshot of what im supposed to be looking for and not a vague description please? I did crash last night so i think i might just delete my save in case files got corrupted and start over. but the only option in game is to delete all SP saves....dumb
edit- found metal, just not in the spots where I was originally looking (the middle river area) those nodes were just not there for me but found some in the mountains

Apparently this is happening to at least 5-10% of us. Only metal I found in 2 hours searching was when I forcetamed an Oasisaur. It spawns it in inventory like a Megachelon. About the only thing they seem to be useful for without buying BTT.

Metal is real tough, scouring the map banging certain rocks with a stone pick will sometimes get you 1-2 metal it took me an hour plus to gather 29 metal together, having a metal pick is not much better

It seems that this was broken on release and it is still broken. There was a thread : https://steamcommunity.com/app/2399830/discussions/0/3941272762726971899/ that mentioned some solutions by adjusting settings so maybe the default settings are just no good - or it's simply broken. Good luck.

It took me a while to find my first metal nodes but check high on mountains, on those tableau type mountains [they mostly have crystal and obsidian but also a little metal] and around the edge of the dunes area. I eventually found my first ones on a hill in the high desert, but the ones there are pretty small rocks compared to on the Island so they are hard to spot.
