If I transfer my char to SE. Can I then at any time transfer back to island to maintain my base?. I know that I cant transfer items....just wanted to make sure I can get back , thx!!

I just lost 2 dinos which I transfered in singleplayer from the island to scorch earth.. they just disappeared when I logged out for a break and logged back in. Can't track them.

So I would suggest to really just get your char to SE and built a base close to an obelisk so it is easy to go back to the island for you.

If you play Single Player, you can switch between the maps any time.
Additional you can transfer items and dinos.
For dinos exist two ways to transfer. One is to cryo them in a cryopd and transfer the pod as item. This has the advantage that the dino keep its saddle. The other way is to park the dino inside the circle of the obelisk. Then move it at tab CREATURES of the obelisk from above to below. Here the dino loose its saddle.
So the steps to move from one map to another and vice versa is:
1) Put all your items, including clothes, into the INVENTORY of the obelisk
1a) Put animals into circle and use CREATURE tab to upload animals if you don't want to use cryopods
1b) If you use Cryopods, this Video may be helpful to make them work to drop dinos from pods everywhere without need of a fridge: https://youtu.be/yyYYNYnG8NM?si=b4aKJpsmna-EdCF8
2) Press UPLOAD SURVIVOR
3) In screen named 'Download Ark Survivor' (Loading...) press ESC to enter Main Menu
4) From Main Menue choose the other map and press button SINGLE PLAYER at right below
5) In character screen press button 'Download'
6) Choose place to spawn on the map

On the map you find your items in any obelisk at tab INVENTORY to take them and dinos at tab CREATURES if you did not use cryopods.

TIP: Deposit a bed on a foundation close to the obelisk on all maps you switch.

Yes and no. You can't transfer items or dinos in the first 60 days Scorched Earth is live. This is to prevent mega tribes from steamrolling people I suppose. In 2 months, you'll be able to transfer anything you want, but until then, you can only transfer characters.

Somewhat related to the OP so I didn't want to start a new thread.

Looks like there is currently a bug where it treats the empty custom cosmetic buttons as items, so if item transfers are turned off then you can't go to SE. We had this issue on our private server. Had to temporarily allow item transfers and just go in naked on the honor system (most playing are friends)
