yes the license to operate the product ,. but do not own.
I have a RIGHT to say what DLC I want IN MY COPY of a Game by BUYING said DLC, I did NOT BUY the Pyromane there for it should NOT be in my SINGLE PLAYER MAPS!
plain and simple if you don't understand what I'm saying here then:
1 go read the original post & the rest of my answers in this topic.
2 Go and READ Steams purchase agreement & Cross reference this with the Canadian syber securities act that says I have the RIGHT to decide whats on my PC.
Lastly Understand I see the rights of the IP holder HOWEVER forceably downloading a DLC I've not bought & Paid for & have no intention of getting IS a VIOLATION of the Canadian cyber securities act.
There fore adding this thing onto my system REGARDLESS of my action of purchasing or not is by definition a Criminal act. & I've given them an out REMOVE the Pyromane from the single player maps UNLESS its been Purchased & allowing non purchasers to see it on servers IS a simple fix on their end as the IP holder as you seem so fond of trying to defend, Snail Games & Wild Card can do as they want I've no intention of disputing that, HOWEVER when it comes to giving my content that I can't use with out buying it first I'd RATHER it not be on my PC at all unless I buy it first!.
again go READ the legal documentation available on Google
Games sold Digitally are not the following:
Licencing criteria aplicable to steam games:
Tools
Game Engines
Scervice aplications suchas Email, Search Engines, Data base or Data storage applications.
There fore in MY country & by Steam since you can be banned from a games forums but still play the games & blocking your access to a game or product on steam is against their ToS, I DO in fact OWN my COPY of ARK Survival Ascended.
Additionally the Legal documentation states Licencing apps in the above categories must be usable with NO SUBSTANTIAL download of data or usage of System storage, both of these disqualify ALL games as licences, HOWEVER Third Party Launchers like the ones for Trove, Ubisoft games, & Paradox games, & baulders gate 3 ARE all Licence-able applications since they are Tools HOWEVER the Data that composes your games is a PRODUCT & under this act is NOT an IP at time of Usable format for distribution, THIS cover Early access games like ASA.
so again I OWN my COPY of this IP it is NOT & NEVER WILL BE A LICENCE AGREEMENT.
Read everything next time.
Even if you did have a case, which you don't, good luck with the lawsuit that will drag on for years until you are broke and the only people who win are the lawyers.
I'd hate to be around when you find out that there are fonts installed on your pc that you will never use...
as an author I know about those fonts, as for who goes broke first it will be Snail Games there's the beauty of it they're so far in debt the only bail out they can get is from the UN for failing countries, & they don't qualify for that, & none of the companies they owe will forgive the debts Snail owes so they're screwed.
Lastly I KNOW ALL READY HOW TO DISABLE IT! but I want it DELETED & for my game to still WORK! as I Never baught the Pyromane DLC so I should NOT have to SEE that thing AT ALL! & nor SHOULD it be taking up space on my pc either as it was never & WILL NEVER be purchased as its 1 creature for $11cnd after taxes now if it was $1cnd, $3cnd after taxes (yes my province is way over taxed) I'd not be here Requesting Wild Card FIX this error in judgement nor would I be explaining Legalities, defining ransomware, to a bunch of people in or fresh out of Middle & or High school who don't know the difference between Limited use Licences & Digital PRODUCTS!
I bought it and it was 7 bucks.
However, I would like to wish you good luck with your lawsuit.
you can't seriously be blaming a game company for how the looney is doing are you? hahaha...you are so out of touch.
Firstly, thank you for that highly enlightening rant. It's always refreshing to see such a passionate display of... well, I'm not quite sure what that was, but let’s call it enthusiasm for now.
As an "author," I’m sure you appreciate the importance of clarity and factual accuracy. So, let’s break it down a bit.
Snail Games' Financial Situation: While your economic analysis of Snail Games is undoubtedly fascinating, it's a bit off-topic and, more importantly, lacking any substantial evidence. If you're so confident in their imminent bankruptcy, perhaps you should consider a career in speculative finance.
DLC and Your Rights: You mentioned wanting to delete the Pyromane DLC without affecting your game. While your enthusiasm is commendable, let’s stick to facts. Under Canadian law, when you purchase a game, you are typically buying a license to use the software, not the software itself. This means that the publisher (in this case, Wild Card) has the right to update or modify the software as they see fit, including adding DLC content.
Storage Space: Concerning the space it takes on your PC, it's unfortunate, but modern games often include all available content within the base download for ease of updates and to ensure compatibility across all users. Complaining about it would be like whining about having to pay taxes—oh, wait, you already did that.
Legalities and Ransomware: Ransomware? Really? Let’s not throw around legal terms without understanding them. Ransomware is malicious software designed to block access to data until a ransom is paid. DLC that you can disable but not delete doesn’t quite meet that definition. I suggest you spend a bit more time reading up on actual legal definitions rather than spouting off inaccuracies.
Understanding Licenses: It seems you're struggling with the concept of "limited use licenses" and "digital products." A license agreement governs your use of the game, which can include mandatory updates and content additions. These are clearly defined in the terms of service you agreed to when you installed the game. If you missed that part, perhaps a refresher course in reading comprehension would serve you well.
In summary, while your outrage is noted, it's misdirected. If you don't want the DLC, don’t use it. If it’s taking up space, buy a bigger hard drive or manage your expectations. And next time, before you try to educate a forum on legalities, perhaps do a bit more homework. It might save you some embarrassment.
Second By DEFINITION & how the Pyromane was forced on EVERYONE is a form of Ransomware.
Thirdly IF the Pyromane was implemented as a Paid mod so those of us who didn't want it would NOT have to see it in SINGLE PLAYER 7 unofficial servers who were not running it. Then there'd be no issue.
As is this thing is both a Breech of trust & borderline illegal as it can be viewed as a type of MALWARE. Also if this thing had been given for free again no issue however as is its unwanted over priced garbage & enough for me to consider uninstalling ASA & requesting a refund & prepping for a LONG debate with steam as I'm 178 hours or more past the return window, but its still sad that I an ARK super fan would have to consider abandoning a franchise I love based on greed driven cash grabs like this.
If you really want this "fixed" stop wasting time crying here and go call that lawyer.
Lets us know in a few years when that case is settled though.
