How to craft?

How do unlock new things to craft, at the start it says I can only make a pickaxe and a torch, I want to build a base but don’t know how to unlock a hatchet or a wall. Any help?

Open your inventory and at the top there will be some hexagons with a number on it. They're called engrams and you get engram points every time you level up.

Be mindful the game wasn't made for solo play and you can't afford everything. There is a "mindwipe tonic" you can craft later that resets your invested stats from leveling up and resets your engrams too.

I play on console lol figured I’d ask on steam since I typically get more of a response
