Wolves used to over-spawn in Ark Survival Evolved, that is tame compared to the new spawns they added, on top of the Wolves.
My first trip to the Arctic I got all 5 Penguins I wanted, for an Auto Polymer Farm. Got back to Base, quit the game, reloaded it the next day, and they all fell into the water when my Taming Raft spawned invisible, like it does each time I reload the game, and all but 2 females got eaten by Piranha's.
2nd trip nothing.
3rd trip a single female on the Cliff Tops, no good.
4th trip, which I done today, snatched a male, before it got eaten by a Carno on the beach. The last one alive, of 8 Penguins. All running towards the Carno...
About an hour in the Arctic, for each trip. Hunting for Ovis, getting Oil, Pearls, Obsidian and Metal. Arctic Iceberg Base Building.
Personally, i'm playing on SP and there are kairukus on the "frozen islands" the most on the NW of the map, as the predators can't go there...
