Uuh was there an update today that just randomly decided yup how about downloading the entire game again? what

At the end of the update, it's written "2 GB", true, but, as most of the time, while it downloaded, it was written "75 GB", because only of the "REORGANIZATION"! (and that's because it takes a little more time)

Yea SG has never been good with communicating every update thats over 1gb+ unless its a major update. I dont think anyone wants to keep continuing on updating things that breaks their accomplishments, this is starting to become boring. Hence is why I tend to stick with Enshrouded, at least for now.

2GB of changes to the code, spread across the entire game file, so you'll see it download the smaller packet of code changes and then update or apply it across the entire larger game file. It's not re-downloading the entire game, just applying all the changes in the places it needs to. That's how most games are updated, it's just a longer process with larger game files and Ark has always been stupidly large. The details of the updates are always posted on survivetheark.com, they just don't post things here on a steam forum anymore and probably never will.

I often have 75GB updates. Had to wait 2 hours to install before I could play. I wish they would fix this. Should not be necessary for a game update .. which today actually broke clouds in the snow anyway, so there will probably be another 75GB update for me if/when they fix this.

2GB "downloading" is files you are downloading to your PC, 75GB "patching" is game files being updated across the entire 75GB+ of what's already installed on your PC. It isn't downloading 75GB of files each time, just going thru the 75GB already in your machine's memory and applying the 2GB of changes where they need to be to make the changes. If you have a faster processor the patching process takes much less time. The ASA patches still take far longer than they should compared to other games that get frequent patches, but that's because the game code is messy. ASE was the same way. We all hoped they would clean up the game files by now but that's probably never going to happen, it'd be a lot of work and they have never done big fixes. The Center is coming soon and it'll be the same thing all over, partly because they don't do enough testing before they push things out. We do the testing for them and then they roll out the sort of fixes you'd expect them to have made before the map launches.

I personally just uninstalled the game today. It has already been a roller-coaster ride with all of the constant nerfs and not fixing bugs. Now they are patching everyday instead of releasing one big patch a week? No thanks too many good games coming out lately to sit and hope for this one to get it's crap together.

2GB. It took 3 minutes to download and it is currently on 25 minutes to update the files and it is at 16%. F'n yikes

What is going on with people's rigs? that this could take 2 hours cpu? no/old ssd? hdd?
